Sebastian's Point Of View
~ A week later
My jaw clenched as Mia walked out of the store with a sad expression. Ian walked next to her, and she looked up, her eyes meeting mine. As they got to the car, she was about to get in, but I stopped her.
"What's wrong, Baby?" I asked her.
Believe me, I am trying to get used to calling her these nicknames. Just to see which one fits better.
"Can we go? Please?" She asked. I leaned off the car.
"Tell me what happened," I demanded.
"Marian is overstepping a bit, and she is making comments about my body which makes me uncomfortable. Also, she has been forcing dresses on me that I don't even like and the one that I like, she said it doesn't look good on me because I need more meat on my bones." Her lips pouted and she heaved a sigh.
"I'm not self-conscious about my body, but it feels as if she wants me to be insecure about it. The clerk was also agreeing with her so, I just walked out," She said, rolling her eyes.
"What did I promise you, hmm?" I asked.
"She is your stepmom, Sebastian. I didn't want to be rude to her, and you said I can choose my dress," She uttered, sadly.
"Tell me what you want," I insisted. I took her hand in mine, and she looked surprised as I pulled her closer to me.
"I would want to go home," She muttered. I loosened my hold on her, and she spoke up again.
"I meant to buy the dress. I'd want to get my mom's opinion and to see my family at the wedding as well," She added.
"What if I had them come out here?" I offered. Her eyes lit up at my words.
"You would do that?" She asked, looking up at me with her beautiful brown eyes. I nodded.
"I told you, anything you want," I said, and she smiled.
For the first time, she genuinely smiled at what I said to her. I've seemed to be growing on her, and I'd admit that I had developed feelings for her before we met officially. I told myself I'd never fall for another woman, but here she is.
My kidnapped bride.
I know she still wanted to pick my stitches out one by one after leaving her for 2 weeks.
She would check my wound 3 times a day and clean it. Though I was capable of doing it myself, she insisted that she do it, so I let her. We have yet to share a kiss, and I know she wants to. Maybe as much as I do. I'd always catch her staring at my lips and I can say I'm intrigued.
She is so different from all the women I've been with, and if I wanted to be petty, I would have taken her to America to make her ex die of jealousy.
I knew it would kill him if he saw that she already moved on and that she was happy, but I'd have to wait. Mia wasn't happy, and my pride wouldn't let me ask her what exactly she needed, so instead I told her that she could get whatever she wanted, no questions asked. If I asked what she needed, she would have said she wanted to go home.
But maybe we could give it a chance. I know she would want her parents to see her happy on our wedding day, and I know that our relationship still looks forced, and I don't blame her. I needed a reason to kiss her and make sure that she got used to it by our wedding day.
All I needed was her consent, or maybe I was just waiting for her to make the first move. She just needs to be comfortable enough.
"Yes, please. I'd really like that, but I would need another favor from you as well," She said, biting her lip, nervously.
"What is it?" I asked.
"You come off as intimidating. When you do meet my parents, you would have to be loving and affectionate. I'd have to lie and tell them the story that's meant to be our backstory, which will make them pissed because I haven't been with you that long and I never mentioned a relationship to them aside from the one with Charlie. So, show more affection, less intimidation," She said, smiling.
"Do you know how it starts?" I asked, grabbing her chin, gently.
"No?" She uttered, but it came out as a question.
"With a kiss. You get tense every time I am close to you. We will have to kiss as if we are in love on our wedding day, and you look stiff," I told her. She bit her bottom lip.
"I'm sure we can make it look convincing," She said.
"If I kiss you right now, you'd probably twitch like you always do. No worries, I'll try my best to make you comfortable," I told her, letting her get in the SUV before me.
"So we're just gonna leave without saying anything to them?" She asked as I sat next to her, closing the door.
"I don't give a rat's ass about them. Now, let's go get that gift I promised you," I told her.
"And what's that?" She asked as the car drove off.
"A phone. You said I can trust you, and I will. When I give it to you, you can speak with your family and friends, but remember our arrangement. You can't tell anyone about this," I warned her. She smiled and nodded.
"That will be enough, though I hate it when you're being all bossy. You don't have to treat me as if I'm below you or speak to me as if you're angry with me," she said, softly.
"I will try my best not to let it happen again," I told her.
"I would really appreciate that," She said to me.
When we got to the store, I went inside and let her stay in the car. When I walked into the store, I wasn't sure what brand of phone she wanted, so I got her an iPhone and the latest Samsung.
While I was checking the store for other things she wanted, the clerk set up the phones with the SIM cards. I got 2 cases for each and then left after I paid for them.
Later on, Mia and I went to get something to eat from a restaurant. While she ate, she looked around the restaurant at the couples, and then she looked back at me. She gave me a small smile that I didn't return.
When I finished eating, she ordered ice cream to go and I paid the bill.
"When can I get a job?" Mia asked as we got into the car.
"With time, we will talk about that," I stated. She hummed as the car drove off.
"What kind of job can I get?" She asked me.
"Please, I want some quiet. I'm not used to talking while I'm in the car. Just finish your ice cream," I told her.
I would have to plan for her family to get here. Make our home more homey. Maybe we would have to take pictures and frame them.
Christian will be flying in next week with his girlfriend, and maybe Lucian will be here some days before the wedding. He has classes, and I'm sure he wouldn't want to miss them for his big brother's wedding.
I didn't want Mia to do anything stupid to jeopardize my plan. I spent too long trying to set everything in place, and God knows I'm trying to be gentle with her.
Honestly, I am trying, despite it not seeming like much. There aren't many women who can say that I've treated them the way I've treated Mia.
No one could convince me to let a woman sit down while I moisturize her skin, but I find myself doing that to Mia each time we go out.
Today is the third.
When we get home, I'll have to ask her who she wants at the wedding, and she will have to contact them, so they know beforehand. I didn't want anyone at my wedding to cause a scene either, because so help me God they will be escorted out in a way they won't like.
Maybe I sound a little dumb to say this, but Mia was different from every woman I have come in contact with. It wasn't even about her appearance, but also what's inside. She is selfless, caring, kind, and loving.
That day, when I saw her with that boy, I couldn't stop myself from admiring her. Where I'm from, the women I've come in contact with aren't like that.
Maybe it also has something to do with the fact that I didn't look at ordinary girls the way my gaze would linger on another model.
They were little bitches that lack manners and respect. Though I didn't have many manners to most people, I'd never pick on them like a bully. I'm anything but that. I just have no filter and refuse to be nice.
That's just never something that piques my interest.
...later that day
"What's for dinner?" Mia asked, walking out of the bathroom.
"Pork Chow Mein. Luca said that's what you wanted," I told her, sitting on the bed bench before the tray the maids brought in.
"Have you ever had it before?" She asked, sitting next to me.
"No, I haven't. I admit, I am a picky eater," I admitted.
"You should try it. I didn't know if I liked it until I tried it for the first time," She insisted as she lifted the lid from the plate.
"Yeah, maybe. I wanted to ask you who you wanted to be at the wedding," I told her.
"You were being for real when you asked, earlier?" She questioned with a surprised expression.
"Yes. I want this to feel normal for you, and you'll have family members here too," I told her. She smiled and nodded.
"I'll have to get their numbers from my phone, though," She said to me. I got up and walked into my closet, taking out her phone from the safe behind my suits.
When I got back into the bedroom, I picked up the bag with the new phones that I got for her before going back over to the bed. I handed her the bag and her old phone. She smiled and set her food aside.
"I didn't know which one you prefer, but now I can see that your old phone is the Apple version," I said to her.
"Thank you so much." She smiled, and her cheeks turned a light shade of pink.
Beautiful.
"You're welcome," I said.
A smile tugged on my lips as I watched her.
Maybe being a little nicer to her wouldn't hurt, right?
