“Where is she?!” I demanded, as Hunter approached me, descending the stairs from the first floor.
I had just burst through the doors to the house, but he must have seen me coming. He wore a stupid smile, knowing I wasn’t in the mood for patience today. Nonetheless, he enjoyed pushing my buttons. That was just his nature, a trait I had long since learned to tolerate.
“And welcome,” he said. “Would you like something to drink? Eat?”
“How about you just take me to my mate, quietly?”
He chuckled at that, waving me along. Hunter had her underground, confined in one of the old cells. Growls echoed down the dimly lit hallways, indicating that she was awake and not pleased.
