Maximus Kane WE GET HER home but that's difficult enough. Her sensitivity to sound and light gets worse as the minutes drag on. We open the door and she starts crying. By the time we get in the house she's passed out. Too much light. Too much noise. I wasn't prepared for this. "Get her to a bedroom," Leon whisper orders me. Lifting her bridal style, I tuck her head in my chest and take her to my room. It's about three in the afternoon, so the sun is high and bright. I tell Leon to close the blinds with the remote before I take her in there. Red wakes up for maybe a minute but then passes out, and I breathe a sigh of relief as I lay her in the dark room in the middle of the bed. "Thank God that's over," I sigh. Leon looks at me, his eyes holding sympathy. "It's just beginning." SO
