Chapter Six
I looked up at her in complete and utter shock. She looked so.. So angry with me. Why? I hadn't done any thing!
'Ava, that's completely unacceptable!'. I heard my mums voice and she appeared from the crowd, but when she got like this, there was no talking sense to her. Chad put his hand out and helped me to my feet. I thought him but backed away from her when it looked like she was gonna pop me one again.
'What is your problem?!' I asked, genuinely confused.
'You! Stay away from my boyfriend, I know what you're after'. I felt my mouth physically drop open. Was she serious? I looked at Chat, completely confused.
'What is she talking about?' He just shook his head.
'Um, Address me, not him!'. I really couldn't believe how she was acting because of her own paranoia.
'Ava. Nothing is happening or ever happened between me and Chad, He was comforting me at Grandma's funeral because you wouldn't!'. She huffed. I just shook my head. 'You're so selfish it's unbelievable'. She went for me again but Chad stepped between us.
'Move!'. She warned him, but he didn't. 'Move. Now'. I was starting to feel uncomfortable, every one was staring at us, and even though I knew they were judging her for how she was acting, a part of me was worried they were listening and believing what she was saying.
The drunken rambles of a paranoid, jealous girlfriend.
When she was showing no signs of calming down, i decided to just defuse the situation myself and left the room, Ignoring her yelling at me to ''get my ass back there''.
Grandma would be so ashamed of her right now.
I felt guilty but decided that I was calling it a day and just going to my room. Ava had pretty much ended the wake, for me at least, I just didn't want to be any where near her at this point and I wanted her to just go back to Yale.
I grabbed my headphones and decided to listen to some music while I caught up on some reading. I had been neglecting it recently, but in all fairness, I had a valid excuse! I grabbed my book and laid on my stomach on my bed and just relaxed.
I turned the music up so loud it hurt my ears and just let my brain switch off...
I was about 10 songs in when some one tapped me on the shoulder, I jumped and turned around, looking at who it was, hoping it wasn't Ava, and luckily, it wasn't. It was Chad. I just stared at him while he started talking, but obviously, due to the music, I couldn't hear a bloody word he was saying
I took the buds out of my ears;
'Sorry, what did you say?' He just smiled.
'I asked if you were ok?' I nodded and turned around, sitting properly and pulled my legs up to my chest. He sat on the edge of my bed and sighed. 'She's just drunk, She doesn't mean it'.
'Yeah, trust me, I know what happens when she gets drunk, don't worry about it'.
'I know, but still. You're a sweet kid, you dont deserve her bull s**t, and especially not today'. Kid?.. Did he just call me a kid? I don't know why but.. That upset me a bit. 'Are you ok?'
'Yeah, fine'. I stood up and walked over to my desk, putting my book down and putting my headphones back in the draw.
'No, some things up, tell me'. I didn't even realise he was as close as he was until he spoke.
'Honestly, nothing'. He just c****d his head to the side.
'I didn't mean kid as in.. kid.. It was just a force of habit'. I just nodded again. 'Trust me, You're a very grown up woman'. His comment confused.
'What do you mean?' He laughed awkwardly and looked away. 'What??' I was so curious to know what he meant by that. His smile was infectious and before I knew it I was smiling too.
'I.. I can't say, you'll be mortified!'
'What? Why?!' Now my curiosity turned to worry.
'Well, I came to check on you earlier..'
'Right?'
'And.. I'm guessing you had just got out of the shower because.. Well...' He trailed off, and it took me a minute to understand, but as soon as I did, I was mortified!
'You saw me in my towel?!' I snapped. He bit his lip and shook his head.
'Less than that'. As soon as he said that, I realised what he meant and instantly felt my face heat up in embarrassment!
He saw me naked?!
