The Encounter

Lauriel was running through Orrinshire Forest. Her agility and speed made it possible for her to travel through the forest with little effort. Her enhanced eyesight allowed her to dodge tree branches and fallen debris. She knew that Brock would have discovered her gone by now. He would be able to track her, so she needed to get as far away as possible. She was thankful that she did not get winded like humans do. That is definitely the bright side of being a Daywalker. She quickly changed direction when Alysslin’s distinct aroma led her to the east. If Brock and their sire ever discover the lengths, they went to ensure Alysslin couldn’t be tracked by them. Jessamine and she would be put to death. As for Alysslin, she didn’t even want to think about what Sire Vularak would do to her. The three of them know that they need her alive because of her blossoming power. It was not Alysslin’s choice to be what she is. They had discussed their plan; should Alysslin manage to get away from her father’s ever-watchful gaze. Alysslin had to get away. Vularak and Brock wanted to use her and her growing power for their own devious plans. Alysslin cannot have that. She would never forgive herself if she hurt innocent people. Marrying Brock means they would be linked, and if that happened, he would control her. Everyone knows that the sire controls Brock, and because of that, Vularak would be more powerful than even the Sylvinna and the Raven’s Nest Coven. Lauriel came to a stop for a moment and looked around. She thought she had heard something. No way had Brock caught up with her yet. Brock maybe older and swifter than she was, but she had enough of a head start. She allowed her eyes to scan the forest. She saw nothing, but she still felt an overwhelming presence. She cursed and started running again. She had to pick up speed or she would get caught. Lauriel cannot allow that. She needed to get to Alysslin before Brock did. There was the sound again. Her senses were heightened. She frowned. She could tell it wasn’t Brock or the others. Whatever was out there had a different feel. She didn’t know what it was. Suddenly she could hear it behind her, and it was moving quickly. Lauriel could sense that whatever was chasing her was gaining on her. As the unknown presence gained on her, she jumped towards a nearby tree. Then she used her momentum and pushed off the tree. When she pushed off the tree, she went in the opposite direction than she was originally going. Her foot hit something hairy. She landed on both feet as she looked over. She heard something and jumped straight up. She grasped the tree branch above her. The assailant sailed right under her skidding as they tried to stop. They ran into the one that was shaking off her assault. They both fell to the ground. Lauriel let go of the branch. She looked at what was following her. She arched a brow when she saw they were large wolves. Shifters...wolf shifters. She had only heard stories of them, but never seen any. Why are they following her? What do they want? Then the familiar aroma assailed her. It was strong in the area, but she knew Alysslin was not nearby. She would know it if she was. She looked back at the shifters that had managed to get to their feet. They had shifted back to their human forms. They were stark naked. One of them was well endowed and she tried not to make it look like she was ogling him. What have they done with Alysslin? If they hurt her in any way, she will tear them apart. Just then another man came out and he was fully clothed. He handed the clothing to the other two men. She doesn’t have time for this. Brock will be gaining on her. She is losing precious time. The tall man looked at her and stepped forward. He was still naked, and she tried everything not to stare. He was rotating his shoulder as if trying to relax it. She realized he was the one she kicked. She held her head high as she glared at him. “What is the meaning of this?” She demanded. He arched a brow. “I am not the one trespassing.” He responded. She arched her brow, mocking him. He smirked and her knees went weak. “I hadn’t realized Orrinshire Forrest was privately owned.” Lauriel stated with sarcasm. He chuckled...actually chuckled and here she thought his smile was dangerous. The sound of him chuckling did things to her. She really had to get her libido under control. “They are not privately owned. However, you are now in pack territory. You have entered into the Silver Moon Pack territory.” Naked or not, she walked up to him and stood almost toe to toe. He was impressed. At 6’5, he is solid muscle and an opposing figure. Not many men are wise enough to confront him. Let alone a woman who barely reaches his chest. “Where is she?” She grilled. “Where is who? Who is this she you speak of?” He asked innocently. He ignored the man that was trying to give him clothes. His gaze remained transfixed on the bewitching creature in front of him. It had been a long time since he had felt even the slightest twinge of desire for a woman. He really hoped she didn’t notice his manhood responding...he would never live it down. “I can sense her. She has been around you three. I want to know where she is, and I want to know now.” She challenged. He crossed his arms over his massive chest. She tried not to look at him. It took everything in her power to keep her eyes on his. “Look, lady, it would help if i knew who you were talking about?” Her eyes narrowed as she eyed him. She was weighing her options. She wondered can she tell him. Lauriel quickly looked behind her. She did not know how far back Brock was. She looked back at him. He saw the slight change and his animal instinct told him. They aren’t the only ones that are following her. Now he was curious. Who is this beautiful woman standing before him? She was running out of time. She could sense Brock was gaining on her. “Alysslin.” She finally blurted out. He arched a brow. Then he finally took the clothes. She couldn’t help but watch his every move as he dressed. When he was completely dressed. He began walking. “Follow me.” He called out without looking back. “How can I trust you?” She called to him. He looked over his shoulder. “You are more than welcome to stay here. I don’t think the people following you will be as accommodating.” He continued walking. The other two men followed him. She was weighing her choices. “Shit.” She muttered and hurried to catch up. He couldn’t hide his amusement. “I am glad you find it funny.” “Oh, i find many things funny.” He answered, not looking at her. It was awfully hard not to look at her. She was breathtaking. Like right out of a dream. “I am sure you do.” She whispered. With his hearing he heard it and he laughed. She couldn’t stop the damn flush that stained her cheeks. Finally, he looked at her. “Don’t get me wrong, I am as mean as they come.” She met his intense gray eyes. “I don’t doubt that either.” He smiled and winked at her. There was that damn blush again. He noticed it, making his smile bigger. Oh, this is going to be fun. He mused to himself. They walked through large gates into a compound. She saw people stop and stare. They began mumbling to each other. She felt like she was on display. The big man led her into a large house on the other side of the compound. Just then, a set of doors opened. “Alysslin!” Lauriel cried out.
