Lyla stepped into the grand chamber that now belonged to both her and Thomas. The maids had already been there. Her belongings were neatly arranged on the left side of the room—her dresses hung in a wardrobe carved with ancient patterns, and her hairbrush and perfumes were placed on the ornate vanity near the bed. The heavy four-poster bed in the center was covered in a deep wine-colored blanket. She could never forget the bad experience she had here that changed her life. This wasn’t her room anymore.
