Moira hugged herself tightly as she made her way through the hallway. The soft material of her pale cream nightdress brushed against her arms.
Her heart thudded painfully in her chest.
What am I doing...? she asked herself for the hundredth time.
Reaching the grand, dark-wood doors that led to Leander’s chambers, she faltered.
The guards at the door didn’t even move to stop her.
They only bowed slightly, stepping aside wordlessly, their faces unreadable .
That alone made her even more nervous.
This is her first time going to Leander's chamber without him calling for her.
And the guards welcome her like they are expecting her.
