The sound of running water broke the stillness of the chamber. Moira lay on her side beneath the heavy covers, her breathing slow but uneven. She could hear Leander moving—footsteps across the floor and the bathroom door closing. She told herself she should sleep. That was the safest thing to do. But her mind refused to rest. After several minutes, the sound of water ceased. The door opened with a soft click. Leander stepped into the room with nothing but a towel slung low around his hips.
