It stung. Knowing that my sister had probably been forced into this or encountered danger of some kind brought tears to my eyes.
"You do look alike," Beta Mason said, and I lowered my gaze, shaking my head. If she was here for a mission, it was best if I didn't sabotage it. I couldn't bear to lose her because she was the only family I had left.
"I must've made a mistake. Who is she?" I said to him, and he sighed.
"I found her lying unconscious by the roadside. She was battered and bruised. It seemed she'd been abandoned. I couldn't bring myself to leave her there," he replied, and I stared at him, wide-eyed. A mixture of confusion and anger welled inside of me.
Those men didn't keep their word. They must've dumped her because they didn't think she was useful to them.
