Fourteen “You need a microwave in your car,” Kit suggested as she climbed back inside. “I’m not walking three blocks for popcorn every night.” She, Chris, and I sat in my Beetle, watching “Evan’s Boring Life.” In what was fast becoming a nightly ritual, he hadn’t done anything more interesting than watch TV. When she had left for the movie theatre around the block—because what goes better with real reality TV than movie theatre popcorn?—I’d climbed into the back seat with Chris.
