“Yes,” I said. “I got your text.” And twenty-seven from the guys. “Are you okay?” She groaned. “What an awful day.” “I know,” I ventured. “That’s what I wanted to talk to you about.” “You and every reporter in the Tri-State area.” “What happened?” I asked. “You’ve got me,” she replied. “The phone calls started even before I got to work. One of the reporters from The Daily got my unlisted cell number and called at five-thirty.” Must have been a slow news week. Then again, the show had been getting serious publicity while still in the early phases of production.
