28Abruptly, Ariadna’s voice halted. Eyes wide with shock, she stared open-mouthed from me to Stefan. I read her thoughts from her face: YOU’re back. With HIM. And a GUN. Wrong. All wrong. Spinning around, she plunged toward the bar. Hilly-Anne blocked her way. With false clumsiness, the Belgian swung the boom and the mike smashed toward the watching faces. Jumping to avoid a crunching metal slap, men crashed into each other. Drinks splashed upwards and loud Slavic curses rained down. Swanky had his weapon out, searching for a target.
