The ground was moist beneath my bare feet the branches ripped up my already tattered clothes I could barely breathe my heart was pounding in my ears drowning out all the sounds all except one. The hound’s howls echoed throughout the forest I could feel them getting closer. I need to lose them and find a place to hide but how. I frantically search my surroundings as I run as fast as my legs can carry me to my left all I see is mostly shrubbery in a few saplings nothing that could hide a 15 year old girl, on my right is an extremely dense forest still wet from the recent thunderstorm. that seems like my better option I started off towards it. As I am sprinting through the undergrowth Anne leaping over fallen trees looking right and left for a place, I could hide from them I almost ran off a Cliff that I had not noticed the trail leading towards.
As I stand on the edge looking down at the River extremely far down, I can hear the hounds drawing closer still a thought comes to my mind that. There was nowhere to hide that they could not find me. So, as I prepared to leap into the raging white rapids below, to the only place they could not follow me I feel a sharp pain in my left leg. I scream and look back to see a hound had sunk its teeth into my calf and locked his jaw stopping me from freeing myself as the hound tries to drag me from the edge of the Cliff I was hanging off of. I look up and see my master casually leaning against a tree watching.
“You don't seem to get it do you child you will never escape I will not now nor ever allow it I promised your father that you would stay here till you are a ripe old age till death more or less,” he says with a hard look in his eyes.
“You knew my father?” I ask through clenched teeth.
“Yes, quite possibly better than anyone. Now how about instead of you dying tonight we go back to the ranch and I can tell you all about your father?” He said with a sickening smile spreading across his face, “and maybe even a little grown up fun between you and I yes?”
“I think I would rather die!” I say dragging myself and the hound to the cliff's edge.
“No, no, no please don't do that! Your father will kill me in the most painful way he can think of if you die please,” he says taking a step towards me.
“Then it looks like I'll be killing two birds with one stone doesn't it?” I ask before grabbing the hound by the scruff of its neck not taking another second to consider what I was doing and hurled both the dog and myself over the edge with all the strength I have left.
“NOOOO!!!!!!” I heard my old master scream as myself and the hound still locked onto my leg plummeted down into the deadly Rapids.
