AFTER HE HAD LEFT THE super, Rafferty returned to his own office. Thankfully, it was empty, Llewellyn, presumably having postponed his attempt to retrieve the locked away photo fit and make himself useful on another aspect of the case. Rafferty wanted some peace and quiet and thinking time to review the conversation he’d just had. Was it just his wish-fulfilling imagination? Or had Bradley seemed decidedly shifty?
