~ALLISON POV~
When I woke up, I found myself in Cassandra's hospital. As soon as I signed the consent form at the other hospital, Liam and my parents didn't waste any time in bringing me here.
While still waiting, I heard a knock on the door and I turned my gaze to it immediately. When the door opened, a nurse walked right in with a smile on her face,
“Ms, I need to take your blood samples for a test before we commence the surgery tomorrow.” She announced softly and I nodded my head, sitting upright on the bed.
As soon as the young lady was done, and ready to leave, I called her attention,
“Excuse me.” She tilted her head back in my direction,
“If I may ask, where is my sister's ward? How bad is her condition?”
She continued staring at me without saying a word to for a minute,
“I'm not allowed to talk about a VVIP patient. There are only special doctors assigned to them, and they should be able to answer any questions related to the patients. If that's all, I'll take my leave now.”
I replied with nothing but a nod, and once she was gone, I lay down on the bed once again. Sandra was at a VVIP ward, but I was left at a barely functional hospital?
A laugh escaped my mouth as the words of the nurse who had just left continued to play in my head over and over again, and I took the time to laugh at my pitiful self.
I had no idea when a tear dropped down my face, and I rubbed it off as soon as I felt the stain. At least, after this, I would leave the family for good since I was not wanted here, not by anyone. This pack had been my home since I was a baby even though I was never a member, but I had no other choice.
After a while of thinking, I shut my eyes, reminding myself that after tomorrow, everything would come to an end.
________
“It's time for surgery.” The doctor announced as he stepped into my ward. I had been with a note and a paper, writing down a few jobs I knew I could take as a means of survival in another pack.
Usually, other packs tend to never want to get acquainted with wolves from neighbouring packs, especially if they have passed the stages of being pups so I knew finding a footing in another pack would be really difficult, but still I was willing to try.
If I had to become a rogue for that to happen, I was willing to do that.
I nodded at the doctor, and rose to my feet,
“The nurses will put you in a gown soon and you will be led to the surgery room.” He said to me, and again I nodded,
“Doctor, if you're handling the surgery, I guess you're also one of the doctors in charge of my sister's ward?”
He remained silent, not saying anything to me for about 30 seconds before he spoke,
“Yes. Is something wrong?”
“I would love to see her one last time before the surgery commences. I wish to say a few things to her before I go in.” He stared at me, the look so intense that I began to feel like something was wrong but then after adjusting his glasses properly, he uttered
“I'm sorry but you can't. She gave instructions not to let anyone into her ward until after the surgery.” After saying this, he walked away and I was left to stare into thin air until the door opened again and a nurse walked in.
“Miss Allison, let's get you ready for the surgery.”
Without saying anything, I trailed behind her and in no time, I was fully dressed in my surgery gown
I walked out of the ward, heading towards the surgery room with the nurse, but just before my hand gripped the door, someone grabbed my arm and I turned to see Liam,
“Let's talk for a minute.”
I stared at the nurse and when she nodded her head, I took a few steps away to a corner where Liam wanted us to be.
“What do you want to say to me, Liam?” The tone in my voice was impatient and laced with anger as I asked because I hated the sight of him in front of me,
“Did you think this through? I mean the divorce. I'm the Alpha's son and no other wolf would dare to claim you after the divorce, Allison. Are you willing to become an unmated she-wolf for the rest of your life?”
I didn't respond, but kept staring at him and wondering why he was acting like he even cared about what would happen to me after all of this ends.
“Why do you care?” I finally asked
He stayed silent for a few more seconds, and just as I was about to walk away, I heard him,
“Because Lucas would kill me if he finds out about the divorce.”
I raised a brow at Liam, confusion evident in my gaze,
“Why would he do that?”
He raked his fingers through his hair in utmost frustration, and I could see it clearly in his eyes. His desire to keep shut and I didn't bother asking further questions. Why do I even wish to know in the first place, when I was planning to leave the pack for good after this?
“I don't know. I don't f*****g know okay, but he always wants you safe, Allison. I was only kidding about the divorce in the first place. I had no idea you would f*****g go this far.” He said, but my mind was made up already and I wasn't going back on my decision,
“Well, that is your problem, Liam, not mine. I don't care what Lucas wants, and I won't change my mind. We rejected each other and like I said, I would be out of your life after the surgery.”
My face was filled with disgust as I turned around and walked into the operating room without a second look at Liam. He wasn't doing this because he felt sorry, but because of what Lucas would do to him.
As I lay on the bed, I couldn't help but think about what Liam had said moments ago. I couldn't help but think about why Lucas wanted me safe. Was there some kind of reason behind it?
