Chapter 8

Abi's POV

"Abigael, dinner is ready!!"

I heard mom shout and I dropped the book I was reading jumping off my bed.

"Coming mom!"

I yelled back grabbing my kimono to wear on my night dress.

I quickly opened my door and climbed down the stairs to the dining room. Alex was already sitting at the table with his face buried in his phone.

Gosh he is always on that thing.

"Help me set the table sweetie."

"Ok mum."

I picked the plates and arranged in front of the four chairs on the table along with the cutleries.

After doing that I went to the kitchen to help my mum bring the food.I set it on the dining table and almost immediately the front door opened and my dad walked in.

"Hope I'm not late." He asked smiling and rubbing his hands together.

"No dad you are just in time."

My mum brought the remaining food and served everyone, placing the chocolate pie at the center for desert.

"So dad how was your trip." I asked as I stabbed my pancake.

"It was just fine, we even got the contract."

My family owns a company outside our town but they don't go there everyday, mostly my dad works from home and my mum works as a nurse at times.

Although on most business trips she accompany's my dad.

Alex and I have never been there before and the details about the company are still very much a mystery to me but that's ok after all it's far from here or at least that's what I have been told.

"Really you got the contract?"

"Em yea." Dad said and exchanged looks with my mum. Weird.

"Is something wrong?" I asked looking between the two of them.

"Nope. So how was your birthday party?"

Mom asked trying to change the topic. I shrugged and responded anyway.

"It was fantastic, we had so much fun".

"Yea, even aunt Tina surprised us that day. She helped us with almost everything, the decorations, the cooking, everything."

Alex chipped in speaking up for the first time.

"I told you your aunt doesn't hate you." Dad chuckled.

"I'm not so sure about that dad." That was Alex.
