CHASE'S POV "First, who is Delilah?" she asked out of nowhere. I thought she said Delilah was her homeroom teacher. Why was she asking me about her now? "Delilah?" I asked, my voice laced with confusion. "Don't play dumb, Chase," she snapped, pushing me away and freeing herself from the cage formed by the wall and my body. "Your homeroom teacher?" I questioned, trying to understand what she was getting at. "Really? Isn't she your potential lady-to-be?" she retorted. As those words left her lips, an unconscious smile touched mine. "Why are you smiling?" she asked, her voice cracking with pain. She must have thought I was making a jest of her, which I wasn't. I tried to construct whatever words I would choose because her eyes were already swimming with tears that threatened to fall. "
