Third Person Pov
Feeling the soft and tender mattress against her body, Anya turned sideway on the bed, still contemplating in her sleep whether to wake up or not. After a few minutes,her sixth sense woke her up.
Today is Monday.
She sat up, a slow survey of the unfamiliar yet now comforting chamber filling her vision. How had she returned to the bed last night? The final threads of memory led back to the steamy warmth of the bath, Chase’s gentle ministrations… and then, a blissful oblivion.
Then it clicked. They actually had some intimacy yesterday, and she fell asleep during the pleasurable moment
'Was it during or after?'
'That is so stupid of me,'
' How can I fall asleep when he is there with me?'
She said to herself,regretting her action. She took a look at her side, thinking that her mate would be there. But it was empty. The other side of the bed was empty.
Her jaw dropped from the disappointment of not seeing her mate next to her. She ran her hand furiously through her thick hair, sighing heavily afterwards.
"Looking for me?" His voice, a low, melodic rumble that never failed to send a pleasant shiver down her spine, drifted from the sitting area. A smile bloomed on Anya’s face as she turned towards him.
"I thought you left…" A hint of vulnerability laced her tone.
" I would never. I couldn't sleep on the same bed with you last night,after having that sweet moment with you in the bathtub," Alpha Chase said to her, as her touch her face slightly, tucking her hair behind her ear, making Anya cheek blossom the more.
" I'm afraid I won't be able to hold myself from marking you. I don't want to mark you while you are asleep, neither do I want to mark you, when you are not ready " he said all in a breath, looking at Anya with his eyes filled with lust.
Anya was speechless. She did not know how to react to the Alpha words, as she continued to blush and smile endlessly - one hell of a reaction
"Let's get you ready for school," Chase said gently, reaching to help her up.
"Ouch!" Anya recoiled, a sharp intake of breath as she put weight on her leg.
Concern etched itself onto Chase’s features.
" Are you okay?" Alpha Chase said almost immediately out of concern
" I'm okay. I think I've hurt my thigh," she said
His gaze immediately dropped to her leg, his fingers gently pushing aside the silken gown. A faint, elongated mark, closer to her core than she’d realized, marred her skin. A low hiss escaped Chase’s lips, his jaw tightening with regret as he saw the evidence of his untamed passion.
" Does it hurt a lot?" He asked, looking at her with sympathy
" Not really. I would heal in no time. In fact,I don't know why it is taking this long," she said.
Her point, a valid and reasonable point, make the Alpha look at the mark once again
"You are right. You shouldn't be in pain,"
" I'm not in pain. I don't know why I screamed earlier from just a little mark,"
" You reacted to the pain, without even knowing what it was. It is my fault. I did this to you. I should have been more careful with my claws," Alpha Chase said, looking seriously remorseful
" I have no control when it comes to you, Anya. Take the day off. You can start school tomorrow," he said, making Anya jump on her feet in no time
" No,no. I'm perfectly good. I will start school today. See, I'm fine," she said, making a turn for her mate,to prove that she was actually okay
" No. You should have healed,but you haven't. That means you are far from being okay," her mate retracted, and a sad look overtook Anya face, her shoulder dropping in disappointment
" Maybe because the mark is from my mate. And not to say,you are an Alpha. Your claws mark might take longer than expected,"
" And you are a vampire. You should have healed, no matter how deep it is or from whom it came from," Alpha Chade said,countering her point
" I'm fine. Just let me start school today. It is just a small scratch," she said,not making her known again but pleading with her eyes
The Alpha, who has made up his mind, saw his mate pleading eyes and succumb to it
" Fine. Just be careful. I mean, be extra careful," he said,but Anya was already in the bathroom. Immediately, the word she wanted came out from the Alpha's mouth.
Her actions make the formidable stern-faced alpha smile.
He walked towards the door, linking the room and bathroom together. It was opened. The slender body of her mate is on display fully to him. His dominatary side was ready to overtake him, but he couldn't allow it - not now.
She has been more than happy to start schooling. He won't take that joy from her,just to satisfy his lust
" I will call for the maids, " he said.
The maids he sent away earlier when they came to clean her up,but she was still sleeping. Right now, she is far from being late to school. But he allowed her to do whatever she wanted.
" No. It's okay. I've got this," she said, making no eye contact with her name as she stepped into the bathtub.
