Sam's POV
I let her in Vanessa's house. She's still in the kitchen but I saw her leaning by the wall just to see for herself that Zen was really there.
"Well this is a pleasant surprise." Vanessa raised her eyebrow. "I wasn't aware you knew where I lived... And how you got here so fast by the way."
I eyed Zen. "Yeah, how on earth did you came here in a flash?" I curiously asked.
"Yeah, well... Truth is... I'm The Flash, babe!" she winked.
I frowned.
"Oops! Sorry. I...I mean, hun." She stared at me waiting for my reaction.
I didn't stared at her too long. I looked the other way to escape her gaze.
"Aww.. Look at you two! All cute and shy around each other! It's so adorable!" teased Vanessa.
I gave her a death-glare to quit it so the i***t won't have an idea.
"Geez Sam, you don't have to give me that look. I'll leave you two to yourselves. I'll just be in my room." I wish she wouldn't leave me alone again. The glare meant to tell her to quit it! Sigh. "And Sam..." she called.
"Hmm?"
"Both of you can sit in one couch if you like", she then winked and walked away.
Zen was at the big single sofa while I was at the couch with my knees on my chest and looking at my feet.
There was silence. I tried as best I could not to take a peek at what she's doing. I was still looking at the carpet when she began to speak.
"Listen, about earlier..."
"What about earlier?"
"Well... With me and Melody..."
"I get it. Don't worry. I'm fine. I'll be just fine." I sighed.
I felt her stood up and sat at the other end of the couch to where I was.
"Listen, honey... I really am thinking of a way and a perfect timing to tell Mel. I just can't tell her right then and there."
I was silent. Well you could've chosen to be single right after I rejected you, otherwise there would've been a huge chance of us being together without any of this problem! My brain answered.
I felt her move a little closer to me. "Hey, honey. Come on..." She said in the sweetest and endearing voice ever. "Talk to me...please?" She stood from where she's at and knelt in front of me so she could have a better view.
"Don't be like this, honey. I know is isn't easy for you. Believe me, it isn't easy for me either." she lifted my chin.
"Aren't you going to say anything?" she asked. I could almost hear her voice crack.
I still didn't responded and continued to ignore her.
She let out a sigh.
"Well, if you son't want to say anything. I'll just head home now." She then stood up and started to leave. But before she could, I grab hold of her arm. She stopped.
"What is it honey?" she asked again.
I was looking at her eyes, waiting for her to speak again. But she didn't. She was waiting for me to answer her.
I was still sitting at the couch with both my knees on my chest while I grab hold of her arm with my free hand.
"I'm jealous."
She knelt back down. "Aww honey, don't be." She smiled. I could swear I melted inside every single time she flashes her signature smile that never fails to brighten my day.
"You will always have me for yourself. You own this." She took my hand to the right side of her chest. I blushed.
"You don't have to be jealous, hun." She smiled again.
"But she's with you. All...The...Time..." I emphasized those words to her so she'd get it.
"Hey, I understand honey. But believe me, since you and I kissed, I've never kissed Melody on the lips. Ever." She did a cross-my-heart-hope-to-die gesture and smiled.
I smiled at what she revealed. That's sweet.
She sat beside me and snaked her right arm on my waist. She tugged me closer to her, I didn't without complained.
"I was jealous earlier too when you were with a guy who happened to be flirting with you, by the way." She raised her eyebrow and her lips turned into a straight line.
I rolled my eyes. "Rome is just like a big brother to me, Zen. That you need not worrying about." I playfully elbowed her side. "Besides, you've got no issue with me because I'm single and you are....not." I felt sad again.
She let out a deep breath, closed her eyes. before she turned to me again. "Listen Sam, I've laid my eyes on you since day one. And although Melody's part in this is that she mended my heart when you happen to broke it..." She looked at me intently, but I gestured to her to continue. "Well, there's no way I'd ever drop you for her, hun. I would never do that to you." She stared at me with her sincere brown eyes..
I looked down.
"She may be my girlfriend right now, by status or whatever you want to call it, but she'll never, ever, replace you, honey." Zen continued and attempted to make me look at her by cupping my face as she continued to look at me in the eyes.
I blinked a couple more times. I think I saw a butterfly or two escape from my stomach. "Okay. If that's what you need, time. I'll give you that, Zen." She smiled. "But if you need that time, then you need to trust me on something."
"What is it, honey? Tell me. Of course I'd trust you!"
"At least let me try to be friends with other people! Rome for that matter! If I get too attached to you at school, they'll think something is up! They'll become suspicious! And if that happens, Melody will find out about us. I know quite a lot of nosy people, Zen. I know they wouldn't let a juicy topic such as this to get away. Especially of it concerns me! They hate me for being class president! They hate me for being talented! They hate it that I take on the lead!" I sighed. "How am I supposed to fulfill my last year at school, as class president if a gossip like that would come our way?"
Her huge smile earlier faded away. She didn't spoke. She distanced herself a little from me.
"Honey please? I'm not asking for much. All I ask is for us to be hush-hush for now so that we both don't get into trouble." I continued.
"Hey.. You okay?" I asked and took her hand in mine. "It's only for the time being, honey."
She looked at me and spoke. "Okay. I trust you. Just promise me. If Rome did any advances on you, would you please turn down the f-cking a-shole?"
What dis she just said? I stood up and put both my hands on my waist. "ZEN! No cursing when you're around me! Got it?" I furrowed by brows.
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry. I got carried away. I'm sorry. It won't happen again." She did an irresistible puppy-dog eyes.
"Good."
"What a mess." She said almost like a whisper and kissed my forehead.
"We'll figure something out. We always do! Just like the old times." I smiled at her.
It wasn't long until Vanessa came out of her room and immediately went to he living room. "Well aren't you two cozy over there?" She wiggled her brows at me. Zen just chucked under her breath.
"It's getting late. I'd better go, honey." Zen said as she stood up.
"You sure you don't want to stay for the night?" Vanessa asked.
"Naw. I better head home. Besides it's a girls night out, remember?"
"Suit yourself." Vanessa answered.
I lead Zen to the front door while Vanessa headed over to the kitchen.
"Have a safe trip home, Zen."
She raised an eyebrow at me.
"What?"
"You just called me honey like not too long ago, and now you're back at calling me by my first name?"
I rolled my eyes and pushed her out of the door. "Don't push it, Zen. Now get going before it gets to dark." I reminded her.
"Can I get a kiss?" She asked.
I gave her a kiss on the cheek. She whined like a child. "I want it here", pointing at her lips.
I drew my face near her only to smack her with my left hand. "Right! Get going!" She laughed and ran away from the house still waving at me every stop she could take. i***t.
