Sam's POV
It was Monday morning. I could barely open my eyes. I didn't slept well last night, I was thinking of way too many things. That included Zen, of course. I still didn't know how we'd get through this. I was sure I'd be really hell of a jealous second-in-place girlfriend when I'd see her and Melody together. I hated to admit it but I really was jealous. Couldn't help it!
The other kids were all but being very uncooperative, running and chasing each other all throughout the school grounds until they got tired or somebody gets hurt. I hated watching out for them, especially my classmates. They can be so reckless! Can't they just sit for one quick second though?
The bell rang signaling that the class was about to start. I didn't bothered looking where Zen was at cause I knew too well if I did that I'd regret observing her from where I was. More than ever, Mel was closer to her. I just don't understand it! Could she just keep her hands and her entire body to herself? Why does she have to be so incredibly close to Zen, almost cheek to cheek! GOD! Did the teacher even noticed?
"Were you listening Miss Goulding?", Mrs Bernardine asked.
"Huh? Wha-? Oh yeah. I was." Shaking my head, I smiled a little at her.
"If you were listening, then would you please answer the question on the board?" She handed me a piece of chalk.
Everybody was quiet. Nobody would've suspected me to get trouble just because I didn't listened to the teacher. Luckily for me, I studied the lesson in advance so even if I was still in a haze, I tried as best as I could to answer the question. When i was done, Mrs Bernardine let out a sigh and told me to get back to my seat. "Next time anybody tries to disrespect me in class by not listening to me, I'll be sure to make the questions even more advanced and harder." The teacher said while eyeing me with her glasses up on her nose.
Class went through swiftly. Before I knew it, recess was up.
"Wanna go by house later after school?" Asked Vanessa.
I shook my head. "I don't feel like it. Besides, I'm tired."
She raised an eyebrow. "You? Tired? Since when?" She scoffed. "You're like the most energetic person I know! Even when you're down at times, you would still find a way to be lively to make every one else's mode turn the other way around!" She boasted.
I smiled weakly. My eyes wandered through Vanessa and to Zen and who else, Mel. Who was now really getting on my nerves. She's holding on to Zen's neck for dear life, as if she'd fall over or something! I wish she'd stumble though, geez! Now I was thinking of something bad to happen to her. Sigh. This is so NOT me! And I hated every minute of it. All I was thinking of now was how to ditch the rest of the class.
Zen met my eyes and gave me an apologetic look and mouthed an I'm sorry when she noticed me looking at them.
Just then Vanessa literally knocked on my head. "Hello? Earth to Sam!" I frowned.
"What the hell did you do that for?" If I were a cartoon character right now, she would've seen fumes coming out off both my ears and nose trills.
"Well, you weren't listening!" She defended. "I said that you were going coo-koo just by staring at nothing!"
I looked away. Vanessa must've looked behind her because after what she saw, she let out a gasp and held her hand over her mouth.
"I'm sorry Sam, I'm so sorry! I didn't know-" I cut her off before she could say anything else.
"It's fine." I answered, still looking down.

The bell rang. Finally! I thought this day would never end. Sigh. I just couldn't take it anymore. I gathered my things as fast as I could without looking nor hoping for Zen to approach me either!
As soon as I went out the door, I bumped into someone.
"Woah there!" said a familiar voice. "Why are you in such a hurry?" I looked up to see Rome looking down at me. He's about four to five inches taller than me, so that would explain why, heck! He's tall!
I managed to smile a little. "Hey Rome. I...I was about to head home." I sighed.
"Why the long face then?" He smiled. Dang! Does he know how to charm people or what!?
I shrugged. "I'm just tired. That's all."
"Want me to walk you home?" He offered.
"But you have a driver waiting for you." I argued.
"Well, yes... But I could just tell him to go ahead and not wait for me." He said. "Or I could tell him to wait up so we could drive you home instead. What do you say?" His eyes sparkled. Guess he really was hoping for me to say yes to either of his two offers. I pressed my lips thinking.
I gave up. I told him it was fine if he walked me home. I didn't wanted to owe him any gas money, so. He took his phone out from his pocket right away. "Hey Charles?" He glanced back at me, smiling. "I won't be going home just yet. You can go ahead if you want, you can just come pick me up later. I'll be accompanying Sam in walking home." There was a brief moment of silence. Maybe he was listening to Charles reasoning. "Yeah I know. Don't tell dad though. Sure. I'll call you later! Thanks." And he hang up. "So, shall we?" He gestured for me to lead the way. Such a gentleman.

We were already walking out the gate when I spotted Zen by the bus stop together with Melody, hand-in-hand. I also wanted to reach out for Rome's hand so to make Zen jealous. But I knew better. I knew that making her jealous too would make it more complicated than it already is.
"So.." He started, attempting to make conversation.
"So, what?" I answered back. I wasn't really mad or anything. I was just gloomy and sad.
He took a deep breath and smiled. "So, what's been getting you down lately?" He finally asked.
I hesitated for a second but we kept walking in a slow pace. "You still remembered the story I told you about me liking someone?" I asked him.
He nodded in response. "What about him?"
"Well... I've opened up to that person and told them that I have feelings for them too even if it was too late, even if they already had somebody else." I looked at him waiting for his response. But he was just looking at me intently, waiting for me to say the next thing. "I was okay with it at first. But then I remembered that when I was kid, I didn't liked to share my stuff. What I have is all mine. I don't want nobody else sharing it with me."
"Woah, you really got some complicated things going on with your life now, Sam. Did he told you to stay even if he already was with someone else?" He asked.
Rome just had to keep on emphasizing 'he' when the truth is it's a 'she'. I rolled my eyes.
"Yes. That person told me that they liked me most. That I would always have their heart. That they would break up with...whoever they were with to be with me." Tears were starting to form.
"Hey... Hey.. There now." Lucky for me, Rome was masculine and strong. I was able to get a grip from him to avoid myself from stumbling over the pavement. "It's okay, Sam. I understand. Heart break sure does hurt as sh-t but you can always do something about it, you know?"
"I can't do anything about it anymore! That person is in-love with someone else. And although they've told me that their heart only belonged to me, then why do I feel like sh-t just because I'm not with them right this very moment?" That was it, I cried and broke down on the side walk. I took a seat, hitting my butt a little harder than I thought.
"Hey, you'll get over him. You just need to get distracted at school work and other stuff." I rolled my eyes at his suggestion.
"Yeah right! Like that could work! I've already tried drowning myself with homework, school work, and some more home work but nothing worked!" I exclaimed.
He was silent for a moment. He also took a seat beside me. As if thinking hard too, he rubbed his temple.
"I got it!" He suddenly jumped and almost scared the sh-t out of me. Oh my freakin' baby Jesus! I was now cursing!
"What is it?" I asked him curiously.
He took a seat back to where he was beside me and took my hand. He wiped my tears with his thumb and said, "Use me!"
