Sam's POV
For some reason Rome has this idea that he had to take me home and formally introduce himself to my mother, great! Dad is not often at home because he's working, his job requires him to be on the road all the time! He only gets to stay at home, if we get lucky, over the weekend. I wished he was here though, I would love to see his reaction at me for having a boyfriend.
My mom, on the other hand, was tickled pink by the good news. I crossed my arms and frowned at her. She giggled almost every time Rome would talk, which I found very annoying! God! Is this woman still even my mother??
Rome must have noticed that I was getting irritated, so he bid my mom goodbye and I escorted him out the door. "Sorry about my mom." I told him, still feeling annoyed and awkward all at the same time.
He snickered, "Naw. Your mom's cool." He looked down. "She's a lot like you, you know."
I felt my cheeks blush. "T-Thanks." I lightly punched his arm.
"Hey, no problem!". He scratched the back of his head and was about to say something else but decided not to.
"Thanks again for the ride home."
"You're welcome, Sam. Anything for you." He looked at me intently with his dark almond eyes that sparkled. Woah! What was that?
"I-I... I g-guess I better get going, Sam." He stepped back, away from me. "I-uh.. Tell your mom it was nice meeting her. See ya tomorrow!" He then smiled and waved me good bye.
I've managed to escape from my mom for some more interrogation, I quickly and discreetly went in my room. I wanted to get some shut eye but then the phone rang. Geez. Can't it just wait?
I lazily got up from the bed and went over the phone so that my mom won't enter the room anymore.
"Hello? Goulding's residence." I answered, sounding so bored.
No response. There it was again! It's that creep who keeps on calling but doesn't even say a word! Urgh! My head was pounding and all I ever wanted was to get a nap while waiting for mom to fix dinner but noooo, this creep just had to call when I was just about to lay on my bed. I didn't think it was Rome though. It wasn't right. He just left, so I figured. It couldn't be him.
"Hello?" I said again, now sounding very irritated.
Still no response from the other line.
"Look, if you're planning on pulling some prank or something, it isn't funny! Seriously! Get a life! If you don't have anything else to say, then it's best you hang-up the phone or I'll just tell my parents to cut the goddamn line because some stupid freak is calling each and every time I am about to get some peace and quite time!" I was infuriated.
I finally heard the person on the other line let out a deep sigh. I didn't want to stay any longer on the phone because my head feels like a rock is being constantly pounded into my skull. So I finally put the phone down with a loud bang! Thankfully my mom was at the backyard so she didn't hear the whole thing. I wasn't familiar with the voice though but I didn't mind it. I don't need any more distractions.
As soon as my back touched the edge of the bed, I drifted off to sleep. As far as I could remember, there were no nightmares, just soundless sleep.

The following day surprised me even more. Rome showed up at my front door leaning against the passenger side of his truck. I could almost see Charles' silhouette through the tinted window. Rome gave me his crooked yet sweet smile. And for some reason I felt all giddy inside. It's like at some point of the day, something incredible is going to happen.
"Hey", he greeted me.
"Hey you back!"
"Ready to go?" He asked.
"You know Rome, you really don't have to do all this." I gestured towards him and his awesome truck.
"Oh but I insist." He replied. "Besides, Charles and I don't have much to do in the house since my parents already left early for work. And I didn't want to come to school way too early." He continued.
"Hmm..What do you have in mind?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Care to join me for some hot chocolate over at Dunkin's?" He asked, his eyes hopeful.
I nodded. "Awesome! Let's go." He held the passenger door open for me.
Once inside, I greeted Charles. He smiled wide and greeted me back. He seems to be as happy as Rome.
It was around six in the morning when we arrived at Dunkin Donuts, that should explain why there were just quite a few people. Most of them were college students and professors studying or making lesson plans.
"Good morning!" The crew greeted by the counter. "What would like this fine lovely morning?"
Rome turned to me. "What would you like?"
I was debating whether or not I should get the iced coffee, but then I remembered I hated it when I start to feel cold every after drinking cold beverage in the morning. So I decided for the drink I came in here for. "Hot chocolate with extra milk please."
When we both sat by the table, Rome handed me my drink while he took his and stepped outside. He's also handed Charles his drink. He got back inside real fast, like about fifteen seconds later? Maybe less?
"Charles can't get through the day without his brewed coffee. He's a fan of it. I dislike it." He made a sour face. I laughed at his goofiness.
We drank our hot drinks in silence. It wasn't an awkward silence. It was a nice kind of silence. It's like our silence was like talking. I felt comfortable too knowing that I was with Rome. Soon enough the crowed got louder and bigger. I gestured Rome for us to head out and get to class. Besides, it's now around seven in the morning.
Wow! It's been an hour since we walked in Dunkin' and sat there without talking was beyond amazing. It's like Rome understood at some point that I needed the silence to ease up my mind on things.
"You already done?" He asked.
I just nodded and left my mug on the table and headed out the door. As usual, Rome opened it for me. Always a gentleman. Does his parents even know they've raised such a great kid?
We arrived in school just in time. I was supposed to step out of the truck alone as soon as it entered the gate but Rome had other plans.
He took my backpack and my books. He then positioned his arm over my shoulders and made sure everybody could see us. "Ready for class, My Queen?" I was stunned. I was sure my mouth was wide open with a big 'O'. I hope I didn't looked like a total i***t.
"Y-Yeah. Let's go?" I looked up to him and attempted to hold his hips with my right hand. He looked gorgeous!
He leaned in for a whisper in my ear. Did he just made a slight kiss on my cheek? "Make-believe, remember?" He looked at me in the eyes then smiled.
"Naturally." I smiled back. Gosh! I gotta keep up with him if we really want others to think that we're together! I gotta keep my sh-t together so I won't cry over that stupid Zen anymore!
Speaking of which, where is that i***t? Oh my fudge! Why the heck am I thinking about her! Urgh! NOT AGAIN!!!
