Chapter Thirty-Two - If Looks Could Kill

1364 Words
Zen's POV I kinda missed Sam. URGH! Face it Zen, you miss her A LOT!! Sigh. Okay so I miss her more than a lot. I'm pre-occupied with school work and studying with Melody that I rarely get to talk to Sam. Sh-t! It's all my fault! I haven't done my end of the bargain, which was to break up with Mel! But how could I? I mean, she's really helped me a lot in school and with my heartbreak from Sam. I just couldn't possibly break up with her in a snap! "Someone's in deep thought", interrupted Daisy. Taking a seat next to me at the gym bleachers. I ignored her. I have to come up with something to break the news to Melody without shattering her. Sam was somewhat right, if I had just waited, we would've been together by now without a headache! "Really?" Asked Daisy. Sh-t! Did I just said that out loud? "W-What?" I asked defensively. She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms on her chest. "I asked if you were going with Melody at the pre-graduation ball?" The ball? Oh sh-t! I forgot about that too! Sh-t! "I uhm..." I paused to think. "Well?" She asked. "Yeah, sure. Sure." I answered, clearly unsure if I answered it right. Or if I wanted to be at the ball with Melody. Or if I wanted to be at the ball at all! Daisy faced the basketball court where my buddies were playing. "What about Sam?" Her question definitely caught me off-guard. From the very beginning she was and still is 'Team Sam'. Daisy never liked the thought of me and Melody together. I should've listened to her from the very beginning. "Think about it long and hard, Zen. Sam is a keeper. You shouldn't be jumping into another relationship just because she dumped you!" Daisy was now lecturing me. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Listen, I may not be making sense to you right now, but trust me when I say it's really not a good idea if you look for another. For all you know, she just might be shocked. I for one would definitely be shocked if someone close to me would confess their love for me." I just sat there with both my palms on my face. I wasn't sure anymore if I could wait for Sam. It took me way too long to build up the courage to tell her what I felt. But I was still dumped. Daisy placed her hand on my shoulder. "Hang in there. I know it hurts like stepping on a lego. Heck! Even worse! But you'll be fine eventually. You just have to give her time, Zen. Time to think things over. Time to contemplate. She'll come around. You'll see." I gave her a weak smile. I thought about what Daisy told me, all of it made sense now. A single flashback made perfect sense. She was right all along. I should've trusted my best friend. I bowed my head and could feel my shoulders feeling a little heavy than it should be. "You were right, Dee." Sigh. She turned to me and grinned. "I know. I'm awesome! How could I not be right?" "I should've listened to you. Now look at what's happened." I was trying hard to hold back from crying. There's a lot of people here, Zen. Don't make a fool of yourself! I reminder from my ever-so-annoying brain. Gee, thanks brain! Just when Daisy was about to say something my phone vibrated from my pocket. "Yeah?" I answered immediately after the second ring. "Hey baby, where are you? I'm almost at school. Would you be able to meet me up front?" Answered Melody. "Sure. I'll be there in five." "Make that three baby, I'm about two blocks away." Before I could even react, she hang-up on the other line. Oh sh-t! "I gotta go Dee. I'm meeting up with Melody." She rolled her eyes again and pushed me down the stairs. "Well then hurry up dork! She's going to be waiting. You know how she gets when you make her wait that long!" Daisy screamed from behind me as I started my running phase. I wasn't planning on being sweaty in the morning. Oh well, guess I just have to change to the spare shirt I always bring with me, in cases like this, it always came handy. I reached the front gates just in time. No melody just yet. I was panting really hard. I had to dash more then 400 meters. I'm not even that fit! Just then Melody entered the gates. She was pretty. But her presence doesn't make my heart go hay wire and scatter all over the place. It doesn't make the butterflies come out. If there's anything in there, it would be snails instead. Old, slow, and sluggish snails. "Morning baby!" I greeted her. "Good morning too handsome!" and planted a big fat kiss on my cheek. I told her a dozen times to never do that in public. Sam might see it. She might get jealous. And I don't like kissing Mel either. Sam's kisses are way better! Like over the top better. We made our way but then something caught my eyes. Sam. She came out from a Chevy truck. I frowned. I knew who owned that truck. That show-off Rome! Sure enough, speaking of the devil, he also came out of the truck. Imagine the part where your eyes only zooms in at one person in the room and your vision is darkened by hate and fury and jealousy? I would imagine that's what's happening right now. If Melody hadn't been gripping my right arm, I was sure I would've made my way to that brat Rome! He took her books and backpack from her. Pfft! Oh puh-leeze. I rolled my eyes at his gesture. Gentleman your a**! I made mental notes of their every move. I was sure if this wasn't a school, I would've attacked Rome like a lion and bite his head off! He said something like "Ready my queen?". I almost gagged! He's just so full of bull! I felt my face burning hot including my ears. I'm not even a violent type of person. I narrowed my eyes at them some more. This guy is really getting on my nerves! Who does he think he is? He can't just come around and place his arms around MY GIRL! Nobody does that! What made me mad even more is when Sam also placed her arm around that douche's waist! Damnit! I shut my eyes hoping that the image would go away, but it didn't! Please let my mind play games on me! Please. Please. Please! They started to head our way. Rome glanced at me and Melody, looking ever-so innocent! Urgh! I bet he just wants to take advantage of Sam. Sh-t! Sam on the other hand looked more radiant than ever. But she seemed unaware of me because her focus was just on that douche! Oh. My. God. Sam!!! You can't do this to me! You're kidding me!? I over-heard someone saying that Sam was so lucky to have Rome, that they're such a perfect pair. I immediately looked for that person and glared at them. Do NOT tell me Sam that you and that douche are going out now? Please no Sam! You're MINE! "Hey babe I think I forgot to buy something outside, wait for me here, 'kay?" Said Melody. But I couldn't hear her, I just nodded at her and she took off. I turned to look at them walking inside the lobby still arm-in-arm. It's getting pretty hot considering that the temperature today was windy and cold. "Hurts like a b-tch, right?" Before I could turn and punch that person in the face her hand stopped me. "I'm just stating a FACT, Zen." Daisy beat me to it. I dropped my fist feeling sorry for almost hitting my best friend. I don't know if I even want to go to school right now. I just can't believe she choose that douche over me!
