Samantha.
She's now in senior high and on her last year before she graduates and starts a new life as a college freshman. She was having a good time walking to school, listening to the Baha Men's Who Let The Dogs Out on her Walkman that her gran gave her last Christmas.
She couldn't believe how time flies so fast. It's as if it was just yesterday that she transferred to the school. She remembered dreading the first day, hoping that the new kids she'll meet would be nice.
Since fifth grade, Sam started from a nobody to a somebody. She didn't know how it happened, but she was glad it did. She's a shy and timid teen. What shaped up her confidence was when she was invited by the School Principal to sing for an intermission number at a school event.
Even when Sam was just three years old, she loved to sing! She'd grab the end of the cord of the television and start to sing a song or two. She didn't have proper training or anything; it was only her mom who trained her. Her mom sings too, but due to a condition in her throat, she had to stop. Good thing Sam was there to be her mom's voice.
When she belted out Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On, the crowd went wild! And after that performance, every parent, every kid, and every teacher knew who she was! It spread like wildfire! Even Sam herself couldn't believe it! When she walked down by a lobby or corner, some kid or parent would greet her! That opportunity has allowed her to come out of her shell and realize it isn't that bad at all to socialize.
Even if she weren’t famous in her school, she'd still be noticeable. She's five foot four, has a slender figure, a fair complexion, and has long black curly hair. She's got brown eyes, rosy cheeks, and lips that would spread into a breath-taking smile.
Sam doesn't dress fancy either. On regular days, she'd just go with a pair of jeans and a shirt. The only time she'd get to wear her favorite carnation red sleeveless dress is when she performs on stage. She loved wearing that dress! It was her moms. When she wore it, she'd feel it's as if she's a princess from a fairy tale.
In almost every school event, Sam was there to sing for guests at the school or to just sing for her fellow-students.
Sam was pretty much a lucky kid. She has parents who were content on what she has done and accomplished. She's not an over-achiever either; she wasn't taught to be the best at everything as long as she enjoys what she’s doing and learning from it, her parents were happy. She was taught to be who she is and be contented at what she has achieved.
She has a younger brother, Jared, whose four years her junior. She was giddy when she found out that her mom was pregnant, and that it was a baby boy. She had prayed to God for a kid brother that she can take care of. She had to even ditch her ballet class just to visit her mom at the hospital the day when her brother was born! Sam loved him to bits, and you can guess from there that she's an over-protective big sister.
Jared was now in eighth grade. He's not so little anymore but Sam still loved him a lot! After every class last year, she'd immediately run off to her brother's classroom to fetch him. You can tell that Jared loved his sister too – he’s such a cute boy; he has cute brown eyes, puffy and rosy cheeks, and light brown hair. She got it from their mom's side of the family.
Sam's parents were glad to have her for a daughter. She was respectful, courteous, honest, loving and caring. Although, it was hard for them to send Sam into a public school at first. They were worried she might have a hard time adjusting. She came from a Catholic all-girls school from kindergarten 'till fourth grade. She was sad of course, of leaving her school, she had lots of friends there, she had great teachers, and she had an awesome best friend, Helen.
She was worried that when Helen and her would grow-up one day she might not remember her. What they did when they were kids, what they used to play, what they used to talk about, what they were. That made her sad, more often than not.
But she knew she had to face a new chapter in her life and put on a strong face. She was sure of herself that she could do it.
