Sam's POV
It was dark and cold. I was running away. Running away from who? From what? And why? I could feel my cheeks wet from my tears. All I know is I feel scared. From the dark alley I kept running. My feet were too tired. My heart is too tired. It's as if I could collapse any minute if my lungs failed me.
Suddenly I stumbled into something causing me to fall to the ground. It was still dark as hell. If this is what death felt like, it's definitely serene and not quite what I expected it to be. The wind was blowing on my face while free-falling. It felt strange.
At the very bottom of the ground I finally stopped. My body laid flat, my face on the ground. I didn't want to open my eyes but the smell of fresh air and mint enveloped my senses. I slowly opened my eyes and found a man sitting across from me. It was too bright, I couldn't see his face but his presence seemed familiar.
When I opened my eyes, I blinked a couple of times. Tryingt to figure out if I was still dreaming. It was all a dream Sam.
I was still at Vanessa's house. And there was Rome sitting across the sofa from me. He was looking at me and smiled when he noticed I was now awake. I caught a glimps of his bruised lip. It's all your fault, Sam! Sigh. I gave him a weak smile.
Vanessa was there too and asked if I was hungry. I just nodded. Somehow my mouth felt dry. When she left, it was only Rome and I in the room.
I cleared my throat. "So, Rome..."
"Yes?" He replied.
I was forming the right words to say in my head when I heard him speak again.
"When you were sleeping earlier, you looked peaceful." He smiled. "Were you having a good dream?"
Hah! There's nothing good in that dream! Except for the fact that it was an escape from reality. "No.. Uhm.. I-I didn't had a dream." I lied.
"Okay." He was still waiting for me to speak up. "So what did you want to talk to me about?"
I cleared my head and stood up, went to where he was seated and held his hands. His hands always felt like it's securing me. I looked up at him and stared intently in his eyes.
"Well.. D-Do you still remember the person who has caused me to feel unimportant and taken for granted? The person who is the reason why we are in this setup in the first place?" He nodded.
"Uhm... That person isn't really a b-boy..." I looked down but he held my chin so he could still look me in the eye. "T-That person is a..." Oh my God! Say it already Sam! He won't judge you! "T-That person is really a...a g-girl." I shut my eyes and looked away from him.
I heard him took a deep breath. "Sam." My eyes were still shut. I was afraid of his reaction. I was afraid that he would laugh at me. "Sam, look at me."
I was hesitant but I slowly opened my eyes and did as he said. "I'm not the type of person who's quickly to judge other people's feelings. Let alone judge the person they choose to love. You know that Sam, right?"
It was true. Although I haven't known Rome that long, still he showed me what type of person he is even at a short span of time.
"Yes, I know." I was still looking down.
"Then what are you afraid of? What are you ashamed of?" He reached out his hand to my cheek.
I didn't answered.
"You know Sam. I want to tell you something myself."
Curious, I looked at him. "What is it?"
He gazed into my eyes before saying, "I like you Sam."
My eyes widen in shock. "Even from the very beginning. I've always liked you. But please don't think that I took advantage of your friendship by suggesting you 'this' set-up. Believe me, it wasn't my intention."
"It's okay Rome. I understand." Awkward silence filled the room. "So... You like me, huh?" I raised an eyebrow at him.
"Yup!" Was his reply, popping the 'P'. "Big time."
I laughed at his reaction. He made a funny face in an attempt to lighten up the mood. He did it again.
"What's going on here?" Asked Vanessa who was bringing a glass of water, two mugs and sandwiches on a tray.
"Nothing. We were just talking." I replied and wiggled my eyebrows at her.
She looked from me to Rome then back to me and rolled her eyes. "Whatever Sammy girl! Here, have some warm milk. Or would you prefer hot choco instead?"
"Milk please." I pouted. "Here you go, Sammy girl."
"Thanks ness."
"And here's your water, Rome."
"Thank you."
Ness and I were talking with our eyes, wiggling our brows in the process. She was sitting beside me while Rome was still across from us.
Rome cleared his throat. "I think I'll leave you two girls alone. I just really came here to accompany Vanessa and make sure you were alright." He began to stand up. "But before I leave though, I was wondering if I could use your bathroom Vanessa?"
"Sure. It's down that hall, first door to your right." Vanessa instructed.
"Thanks."
As soon as Rome turned his back and we heard the door to the bathroom closed, Vanessa went cray-zee!
"Tell me all about what you and him just talked about! I only heard the last part he said, about him liking you big time."
"You are something, aren't you Ness! I swear if you took a course in broadcasting and journalism, you would shine in that field!"
"Oh stop with the compliment and start talking!" I laughed at her. "Okay, okay. Fine!"
"He said that he liked me ever since he started studying in our school. He also told me that he wouldn't judge me reardless of who I like and love to be with."
"Aww. That's sweet if him. See? You didn't made a mistake when you choose him as your boyfriend!"
"Sshhh! He might hear you, Ness!"
"He won't! Will you just relax?" My best friend felt so confident of herself. "But on a serious note. I know you heard everything. About what me and Zen were talking about earlier."
"Yeah." I said in a whisper.
"There, there Sammy girl. Whatever you told her earlier serves her right. She punched your boyfriend! Like, what the heck?" Vanessa hugged me.
"B-But..."
"But what Sammy girl?"
Sigh. "But I didn't meant it." My eyes gave away. Before I knew it, I was already sobbing into Vanessa's shoulders.
"Hey, Sammy." Vanessa comforted me and rubbed my back. "Boo, you still like her don't you?"
I didn't answered. I just continued to sob.
Then there was a loud banging sound on Vanessas front door. "What the chipmunks! Now who could that be? I know my dad won't be home until later." I shrugged. "Just get the door Ness." I took a tissue from the living room table, wiped my tears and blew my nose.
I was still at the sofa that was facing behind the door so I wouldn't know who came in. I slouched and let my back slide from the fabric. I was now lying on the sofa. What is Vanessa taking too long?
I was tired so I closed my eyes and placed the back of my left hand on my forehead.
I could feel someone watching me, looking down at me. My eyes were still closed. I didn't mind it. All of a sudden cold lips crashed into mine. I felt hands cupping my face. Imagine the upside-down Spiderman kiss. Only I wasn't upside-down. I was lying on a sofa while the mystery person was standing or kneeling.
I was too weak to react but I was definitely shocked. At first it was an aggressive kiss, hungry, asking for permission. I wanted to scream but I gave up and responded instead, there was no use. I was too tired. I was even tired to open my eyes to see who it was.
Then the kiss turned gentle, passionate. Before I knew it I was out of breath. So was the culprit who kissed me. Our lips parted, I stood up, still sitting on the sofa to steady my breathing. My hair fell on my face. I flipped my hair, and turned around.
Gasp! "Zen???" I held my hand on my mouth. What. The. Hell. Did. Just. Happen????
