" Okay cousin I'm ready. Let's ride Clyde" I say as I pull my wine colored mess of curls into a high bun.
I love this hair color. It really accentuates my dark milk chocolate skin. With my hair pulled back, it really brings out the full structure of my face. Rounded cheeks, on a heart shaped face, with baby doll eyes. So I've been told.
I look in the mirror to take in my shape in these jeans. And I'm liking what I'm seeing! Thick in all the right places. Thick thighs , save lives you know! Hips to grab on, while my waist line naturally pulls in. leading upward to a full D chest.
I've always loved my curves. I lost a lot of weight after Mama and I hated how I looked . But now I'm back 150. Which fits perfect for my 5'7 frame.
When we get outside, Candy says," I'm gonna walk over to the bar and start getting every thing ready for tonight." Looking like she is making a list in her head. "We have about 2 hours until 7, and we are already behind". She says with an accusing look in her eyes.
" Ok how about I just go to the store and get fresh ingredients so we don't have to wait for the chicken to thaw. " Already knowing what she is getting at.
"Its like you read my mind" she says, running a hand over a crystal ball for emphasize.
"Well what else can you see in that crystal ball of yours" I tease with a chuckle.
Candy rubs the air in front of her again" I see that you will meet the love of your life today" She says as in a real trance.
She begins to laugh hard, as she snaps out of it. " It will be in the form of poultry, and eventually will die by frying. But you'll love it same. " Now laughing harder at her corny joke.
"OK get to going" And watch out for The Big Bad Wolf, Little Red."Referring to my hair color.
We both laugh as I drive off. Thinking about our customers and the wives tale they have told us about this place.
Just last night one of our regulars told us he saw a Black Wolf over by Williams Lumber. The towns most lucrative business. It employes a good amount of people in the town.
" Look I swear I saw it. It was huge and black. It was moving so fast I almost missed it" he slurred.
"You sure it wasn't just a car", Candy asked.
"Or maybe you just were dreaming that you saw it" I joked.
He drank more of his beer shaking his head. "I know what I saw ladies."He said with a serious look.
My curiosity got the best of me, so I asked" So what's with this town and wolves".
This wasn't the first time someone mentioned one. So previous I had of course did some research on my new town.
A simple search on the internet and I came across a website that talked about Paranormal Urban Legends. It told of Tree Howler and the talking wolves. It even said that they didn't just talk, but walked upright like a human would.
The sites had a handwritten letter, supposedly from one of the original people who built the torn. In the letters some wrote to their families about the success of their new community. He told his family that they had become friends with the wolves. And that each wolf had chosen a family as their own. As if to protect them.
He wrote about a time he had fallen sick with fever. In his feverish state he thought he heard people talking in the woods. As he went to look he described hearing sounds like the painful breaking of bones.
He reminded the recipient of the letter about times when they were still in bondsge. The time they had to watch his Master punish a slave who tried to run away, by pulling him by all four limbs, until his bones broke and dislocated.
He figured he must have been having fever dreams about his traumatic past because when he looked toward the forest he only saw two wolves coming out of it.
The site concluded that the Wolves of Tree Howler must have been werewolves of all things! Whoo the things you find on the internet. Who knows what to believe.
Further research did give me more info on what happened to the original settlers. When the next group arrived to join them, they were met with a gruesome sight. All of the people were dead. Slaughtered with deadly deep wounds, that could have only been done by the wolves they had loved so much.
They found only the Big Black Wolf laying there. And they used their weapons to try and kill him. To their suprise, he did not attack them. He just whimpered as he ran away into the woods. The new people never saw a wolf again.
Now this I can believe. I surely don't in no damn Werewolves!
Candy's POV
Glory is going to totally freak out when I finally tell her the truth. The real reason we have come to Tree Howler.
I love Glory so much. And I know she needs me. But I needed her for this, so I might have kinda lied to her about my intentions here.
In two weeks is my 21st birthday and I will shift for the first time. It will be a painful experience according to Charles Latimer.
I never told Glory that for years after no contact with my murderous father, it was I who had to seek him out.
I had received a letter from Latime addressed to my father. While reading it I was shocked to say the least at what I read.
Latimer was asking my father to return to Tree Hollow to keep their wolf bloodline in tact. He had also sent family documents dictating that me and my father were the only two wolves left in the bloodline.
I soon contacted him and he talked about our family and it's legacy. He said that that our people came from ancient werewolves from Africa who had been enslaved by werewolf slave traders and sold to other warewolves in bondage. Tree Howler being the only place where they finally found true freedom.
He wanted to make sure that the families legacy did not die with him. When I told him of my father's predicament. He asked me, as his dying wish, that I would be the one to return. Return to continue the family lineage.
He asked me my age, and I told him 20. He said it may be fate that he found me. He said that our bloodline experiences their first shifts at 21.
Panic rose through me as he described the horrendously painful transition from human to Werewolve. The realization of his words hit me like bricks. I started to think this man must be crazy and I'm crazy for believing him.
His next words sent a chill up my spine. Turning to hate as it reached my heart.
"If you don't believe me go talk to your Father."
I hung up the phone.
I did eventually find my father. and to my suprise and d

Ib drive down the street, singing and taking in my surroundings. We've been here months now and I'm still b in awe of the towns beautiful landscapes and v well crafted homes.
Tree Howler has just about one of everything. One grocery store. One big school separated into wings for the varying age groups. One beauty shop. One barber shop. They have one store for all your essential needs. Basically like Rite Aid ir CVS because the store also houses the towns pharmacy. Also one small hospital with very skilled Doctors and nurses who work there.
One drive in movie that b is actually my favorite place v to go. It is in a clearing nested between the huge first of pine trees. The scent and the beautiful scenery makes it perfect for relaxing viewing the newest movies. The big screen lights up the sky line. Only to be outshined by the ever present flowing moon above it. It move it was the place to be until we came to town and opened up The Wild Side.
The town does have a few restaurants because these people like to eat. There's a barbecue place with ribs that fall off the bone. A quaint donut shop that I feel like I need something from evertime i pad by. The scent of freshly baked donuts and kolaches draw me in everytime.
There are 3 clothing stores . They are right next to b exciter. One for woman. One for men. And one for the kids. The next cry is about an hour away. there they have a mall of you're really looking for something special I guess. There's a post office though so really I order my b things online in bulk. That's one of the things I love about this town. You can come as you are. No fuss and no frills.
Don't get it b twisted though. It may be a small town. But these people got deep pockets. I know that the towns main source of income is the lumber yard. because of the abundant amount of endless forest that surrounds it, the town is major source for exporting lumber nation wide.
They not only sell the lumber. but also must v are v socialized in build magnificent creations from it. I'm talking handcrafted furniture, homes, and even big ass boats. People from all over the world request their services. Their creations are considered luxury items and are well sought after.
Everything in town was built from the ground up. The town has one big neighborhood that consist of houses that are vary in size, shape, and design. All different, but all awe inspiring from the architecture of them.
I hit the main road. heading v opposite the highway. It here the land is more forested. With roads of gravel leading to large houses, only hidden by the thick trees. This is where we stay. Our road has about 6 houses and we stay at the end. The house sits on an area of spacious land. So much land that we thought it would be the perfect place to build our bar!
A lil secluded. Out the way. So people can turn up without bothering anyone wth else. . And plenty of parking. We made sure to build a medium sized building. but it is two stories. Bar and pool tables down stairs. With a large area for drinking, dining, and dancing. Upstairs a private lounge for a little gambling after hour action. Some men from town hold a weekly poker game there. or sometimes people just b want av little privacy with their dates. A lil touchy feel but nothing to explicit.
our house is a one story ranch style that is about five minute walking distance. e decided to build large fences around both to maintain our privacy. and to keep any of those rumored wolves out. I snicker to myself. Thinking of that's all we have to b worry about, I'm sure I can handle it.
Try eating off Candy's plate. last time she grilled abs b I re her teeth! Lol. Now that's scary.
Seriously though, I couldn't think of anything b ever wanted to message me levee our little s I were of happiness. I could only invasive this is how the originals must have felt when they first got here.
I've really wondered what happened to them.?
