Caspian's voice echoes through the cave. "You cannot hide forever, Elena. I will find you. And when I do, I will take everything from you."
I cling to Ray. His arms are wrapped around me. His heart beats beneath my ear.
"Ray," I whisper. "He will not stop. He will never stop."
Ray pulls back. His amber eyes meet mine. "Then we will make him stop."
"Ray, we have tried everything. He always comes back."
"Not this time." He cups my face. "Elena, I am going to end this. For good."
"Ray, no. You cannot face him alone."
"I will not be alone. I will have you." He strokes my cheek. "But I need you to trust me."
I look into his eyes. There is no fear there. Only resolve.
"I trust you," I say.
Ray stands. He walks to the entrance of the cave. The waterfall roars.
