Marcus stands outside his cottage. His face is grim.
"Elena," he says. "I have news. Bad news. I saw Alexander's wolves near the old forest. They are preparing something. I think they are planning an attack on the village."
Ray steps forward. His hand is on his sword. "How many?"
"At least twenty. Maybe more. They were gathered near the northern ridge."
Ray's jaw tightens. "Then we need to move. Now."
"Ray," I say. "What about the village? What about Rosa and Eutis?"
"I will send word. They will be safe." He looks at me. "But you need to come with me."
Marcus nods. "I can help. I know the old forest. I can guide you to a safe place."
"Thank you, Uncle."
