Perrie's POV
"I'm bored, let's play hide and seek." Jade sat up from her spot on the couch and looked straight at me.
It was now nighttime and we were watching a movie. I had gone home to get some clothes and pajamas and let my mom know I was okay and had been back at Jade's apartment for some time now. To my surprise, Jimmy still wasn't home and hadn't been since that night he left, according to my mother.
I shoveled a handful of chips in my mouth and gawked at Jade. "Let's do what?" I asked for clarification.
"Hide and seek. You hide, I'll count."
I was still surprised and taken aback by her childlike behavior, but I loved that about her. So random and definitely a big kid at heart.
I didn't respond so she continued. "You're still sitting here. I'm counting. 1...2...3"
Still, I hadn't moved from my seat next to her on the sofa because I couldnt tell if she was joking or not. She looked at me and said the next number dramatically.
"Fooooourrrrrr!"
I now knew she was dead serious and jumped up from my spot, making her laugh. I panicked looking for a place to hide because I knew nothing about her apartment. She had the advantage. I opted for her bedroom, well, because it's really the only place I was vaguely familiar with. I hurried and slid underneath her bed.
"10! Ready or not, ocean eyes, here I come!"
I heard heavy footsteps walking through the hall. The closer she got to me the more nervous I got. I'm pretty sure my hiding spot wasn't all that creative, but I had already wasted four whole seconds trying to figure out if this was really happening or not.
The footsteps got lighter and lighter until I couldn't hear them anymore and I exhaled. Maybe she really had no idea where I was and was looking around the kitchen. I even started to chuckle to my self because how could she miss me. My thoughts were quickly interrupted when I felt hands wrap around my ankles. The next thing I knew I was being snatched from under the bed like that scene in Taken.
Wtf.
"Gotcha!" She yelled, jumping on top of me and tickling my sides. Again with the tickling.
"Ahhhh!" I screamed trying to squirm my way out of her reach, but she was not letting me up. She straddled me and pinned me underneath her.
"Jade, please!" I pleaded with her through giggles.
She was laughing as well as she pinned both of my arms over my head. "This is my new favorite thing to see. Please what, Perrie?" I could've sworn I saw her eyes get darker as she stared from my eyes to my lips to my neck and then back to my eyes. But then she started to tickle me again, making me squirm.
"You win! You win! Please let me up!" I cried.
She rolled off me in a fit of laughter and I couldn't help but laugh as well. She stretched out beside me on her bedroom floor, both of us facing the ceiling and we laughed together.
First, at her tickling me and then I laughed at her laughing which only made her laugh more until we were a laughing mess. My sides hurt and my face was full of tears and so was hers.
After the couple of minutes it took to gather ourselves, she jumped to her feet. "Your turn to find me." As soon as she said it she darted out of the room.
Where in the hell did she get all of this energy?
It was truly a mystery to me.
I counted to ten and wondered where on earth she could be hiding if I was in the bedroom. "Ready or not, here I come!"
I poked around in the hallway bathroom. Nothing. Looked in the living room. Nothing. I looked in the kitchen. Still nothing. I started to scratch my head. This apartment isn't that big, and I've checked everywhere.
Wtf.
I went back to the bedroom to look around just in case she snuck by me. Nothing. I peeked in the bathroom and something told me to look in the shower. Lo and behold there was Jade, balled up in the bathtub with both hands over her mouth, giggling to herself. The cutest thing I've seen in my life. My heart warmed at the image and I knew it was one I'd never forget.
But how in the hell did she get by me though, when I watched her run out of the door? Am I crazy?
"How the hell did you get in here? I saw you go the other way." I asked.
"A good hide and seeker never tells." She brought her finger to her lips as if to say 'shhhh'.
"You sneaky little-" Before she knew what was happening, I was in the bathtub with her, tickling her this time. She screamed and squirmed and tried to get out.
"Are you ticklish too, Jade? See how it feels?"
She was laughing so hard. "Perrie, wait! I'm sorry!" Was all she was able to choke out in between laughter.
"I just bet you are!" I continued tickling her mercilessly until I felt the shock of cold water landing on my skin. In her hysteria, she had reached out and turned on the shower.
"Ahhhhh!" I yelled, trying to crawl out of the tub.
"Oh no you don't!" She grabbed me by my hips and pulled me back into the tub. I landed right in her lap. The closeness was becoming too much for me. Not to mention, it always drove me wild when someone would grab my hips. I felt my body heat up again, despite the cold water currently pouring on me. I shut the water off and finally snaked out of her grasp.
"You are gonna pay for that!" I threatened. I was a wet soppy mess, and to be honest it wasn't just from the shower water. She just had that effect on me.
She smirked and handed me a towel, drying herself as well. I couldn't help but notice how freaking hot she was standing there with water dripping off her body.
After we were dry, we changed clothes and made our way back to the living room to watch more tv.
"I'm so hungry!" She pouted and sunk into the couch.
I swear she's so stinking cute.
"What do you have to eat?" I asked out of curiosity. I was actually quite hungry myself.
"There's plenty of groceries in there, I wouldn't exactly consider myself the best cook though." She replied.
I gasped dramatically. "Oh, but what about Jade's famous pancakes?" I threw my hand over my mouth for dramatic effect.
"Oh, shut up! You know they were good! But that's about all." She swung a pillow at me, hitting me right in the face. I burst into laughter.
"You're right, they were good. Let's make something else though." We were sitting side by side on the couch, but something in her was drawing me to her like a magnet. Always.
Soon there was too much distance between us and despite my nerves, I had to close the gap. I turned sideways a bit, stretched my legs out and rested my head in her lap. She didn't seem fazed. She just smiled, and her hands immediately went to my hair. I closed my eyes instinctively and a soft sigh of content fell off my lips.
When I opened my eyes again, they were met with her beautiful brown ones. She stared into my eyes for a moment while she continued to play in my hair, and I couldn't look away from hers. I really wondered what she was thinking. She always looked at me a certain way, and I had no idea what it meant.
God I love those eyes. And her gentleness.
I saw her eyes flash down to my lips and then the length of my body. And she wasn't sneaky about it at all like I was always trying and failing to be. Slowly she trailed them back up to mine and I heard a small moan or groan or sigh or whatever escape her lips. Then she smiled and it made a blush spread all over my face. Maybe she actually did like me.
"Anything you want, love." She replied. I could have laid there, in her arms, under her gaze for the rest of my life.
I want you, I thought to myself.
Before I could say anything, a loud pounding on the door startled both of us. Again.
"Jade, open the door now! I know you're in there! And that b***h better not still be here! Open it now or I'm gonna bust it down!" We both recognized Jimmy's voice right away.
She looked at me and I couldn't read her eyes, which only scared me. "Pez, listen. I need you to go in the guest room and close the door. Don't come out, no matter what you hear, okay?"
Despite Jimmy's nonstop yelling and beating on the door, she was calm. She whispered softly to me and still gently stroked my hair. In any other scenario it would have relaxed me, but it only made me worry more.
What the hell was about to happen? And why did it seem like she anticipated it?
I didn't like the sound of her request. He was violent and rough with her and the thought of sitting by listening to it made my stomach turn. "But, Jade-"
She pressed a finger up to my lips. "Promise me you'll stay in there, Perrie. I don't know what this is about to turn into, but I don't want you involved, and I don't want you to have to see it, okay? Please?"
What on earth was he capable of?
I looked up at her, flinching at the sounds of Jimmy now trying to kick the door in and for the first time I felt afraid of him. For her. For me. I was beginning to see a side of Jimmy that I think only she knew existed.
"Jade, I'm scared." I said quietly.
She caressed my cheek to comfort me. "I'll be fine, love."
We both got up off the couch and she grabbed my hand. "Go." She whispered. "I'll be in there shortly."
It took everything in me to let her hand go. I didn't want to leave her in the same room with him. She smiled at me and finally, I released my grip. I walked to the other bedroom and shut the door behind me praying that things didn't go south because I'm pretty sure I would kill him.
I listened intently as the front door burst open and Jimmy came in screaming. Soon, Jade was screaming as well and it became a match that hurt me to listen to.
A few moments later, as the yelling only got louder, suddenly everything stopped. Dead silence. My hand went for the knob but I drew it back when I remembered my promise. Still, I feared the worst.
