Chapter 14

Lovell tossed and turned as he tried to call out to Luna. Then Lovell shot his eyes open as a cold sweat dripping down his face. Lovell placed his hand onto his forehead. Feeling the warmth of his body as a shiver washed over him. Lovell curled his body closer, trying to make sense of what just happened. “Was…was it all just a dream?” Lovell asked himself as he covered his mouth. Lovell sat in awe as he tried to remember what happened to find the content of the dream. Lovell growled in frustration as he scratched his head. Ulva shoved her hand in front of Lovell as she held a hot cup of tea before him.  “Drink!” Ulva demanded. Blinking back to reality, Lovell took the cup. While Ulva sat beside him. She was worried as her facial expression stiffened. “Now, tell me. What was this dream you just had?” Ulva asked softly. Lovell stared at the cup, trying to recall what the dream was about. Before Lovell shut his eyes and shook his head at Ulva. “I’m not sure? All I  can recall is that I was in a dark room. A-a-and this voice was calling out to me.” Lovell began to answered. “But other than that, I can hardly remember what the voice was saying or who was talking to me. AS if in the moments after I awoke. I forgot who I was talking to and why?” Lovell sighed before taking a sipped of the tea. Ulva turned away as she gripped her cup. Ulva glanced at Lovell before taking a deep breath as she turned her body to face him. “What did the voice say because you were tossing,” Ulva asked intentively. “As you did not talk in the slightest. You moaned—but otherwise, you seemed to be suffering from the lingering effects of the curse's power.” Lovell shooked his head at Ulva as she held her breath. “I-I can’t remember, per se?” Lovell answered as he stared deeply into the tea. While he tried to remember. Before whispering to himself. “Where are you?” Ulva stared at him before smiling. She then stood up as she placed her hand on Lovell's head.  “Well, I’ll make you something to eat, try and not to overthink it, ok?” Ulva’s smile faded as she watched Lovell repeating the words under his breath over and over to himself—lost in his own world. Ulva softly snickered to herself as she walked towards the kitchen and smiled once more. “So, she is calling out for him. Now all that is left is for them to find each other and fulfill their destiny’s.” Ulva whispered softly. “Lovell, I hope you can finish what your father and ancestors could not.” Lovell snapped back as he turned to look at Ulva. He didn’t hear what she said but was enough to bring him back. Lovell looked down at the tea and finished it off. Before Lovell tried to stand once again. Lovell stumbled as his legs did not give way. Lovell stared as hysteria settled in as joy-filled him. Ulva turned to Lovell—hearing him go crazy. Ulva could see Lovell standing on his feet with his face filled with excitement. Ulva smiled—proud that he was almost better. Lovell turned to Ulva. His joy faded as he remembered something that began to bother him. “Hey Ulva, you said something like ‘I had to fight my inner darkness,’ right?” Lovell asked as Ulva nodded as she continued to cook, grabbing a knife to chop. “How does one exactly fight that if it’s a part of themselves?” Ulva lowered the knife in her hand before closing her eyes, “I am not entirely sure—but by excepting it and understanding that it’s ok to have those thoughts that can corrupt anyone. Even the champion of light or the destroyer of darkness.” Lovell walked over to her, leaned on the counter. Lovell raised his brow at Ulva as she looked up at him. Lovell stood silently as he waited for Ulva to finished. “Besides—light and darkness are two parts of the same coin with a ridge between them larger than anyone could imagine.” Lovell confused by her words, “Ulva, what do mean by ‘a ridge larger than anyone could imagine?’” Ulva finished making the food before washing her hands. Moaning as she tried to think of the words. “Well, to most people, they think there is a fine line between good and evil—but in reality, it's more like a valley between two mountains, or the oceans between landmasses.” Ulva grabbed a plate and put the meal on it. Then handed it to Lovell. Lovell stared at the plate before bringing it over. Lovell began to imagine what Ulva was trying to say. As he walked over to the table. Ulva dished herself up as she joined him. Lovell sat down “I think I get it?” Lovell furrowed his brow as he took a bite out of food. “Though…” Ulva laced her fingers as she leaned back in her seat. Ulva could see Lovell struggling to find his place as she took a deep breath. “Lovell, you’re the embodiment of the good and the bad. The light that illuminates the world and the darkness that follows behind.” Ulva started to explain as she reached over to Lovell’s hands. Ulva smiled gingerly as she tried to inlight Lovell of his position. “Besides, you are the leader of the Ren-Ky warriors. The warriors of Lunatica herself. Each one of them embodies an attribute of life itself.” Lovell lifted his head and stared at Ulva. Seeing the concern in Ulva’s eyes made Lovell uncomfortable as he pulled away from her. “So, what you are saying is that I’m not Lunatica’s only protector?” Ulva smiled as she pulled back into her seat. “Yes, the other Ren-Ky’s are the Winds of Freedom, Lightning of Strength, Flames of Courage, Waters of Knowledge, and Earth of Kindness. Then there is you.” Ulva was pointing at Lovell. “The Ren-Ky Light and Darkness—or Balance.” “The Ren-Ky of Light and Darkness?” Lovell whispered to himself. Lovell started to think about how light and darkness were the same. How Ulva put the idea of good and evil. Where the line between the two forces was separated. Lovell looked up at Ulva and smiled at her with a gentle expression. “Thanks, Ulva, for everything. I think I understand what I should be really, be going now.” Lovell thanked Ulva. Lovell went to stand up as Ulva grinned as she stood up and walked over to Lovell, slowly making her way over. Her demeanour taunting as Ulva slid her hand over the table. “Oh, you mean like finding a way out of your prison cell in Mourn Fortress?” Lovell stared at Ulva, confused about what she was saying. Lovell watched her closely as she stood in front of him.  “Wait, what?” Lovell’s voice rattled. Ulva smiled as she hugged Lovell before pulling away. Lovell sat even more confused as Ulva’s tail swayed slowly to her side. Her soft expression darkened as she felt sorry for Lovell. “I think it's time you returned, back to the living. I’ve kept you here long enough.”  Ulva grabbed Lovell’s shoulders as he tried to stand up. Lovell trying to gain answers on what was going on. Ulva pushed Lovell over without hesitation. Sending Lovell backward to the floor. Lovell tried to grab the table, but his hand phased through. Ulva smiled at him with teary eyes. “Take care, my—” Ulva’s words cut off as Lovell watched her mouth the last of her words. Lovell could see that he fell through the floor of the shack and the area around him grew dark as he reached out to Ulva. Calling out to her for answers before all went black and Lovell could no longer see what was happening around him.
