Beeeeep!
"We have a code blue!”
“Doctor she isn't breathing!”a frantic nursed yelled at the doctor. Nurses piled in and out of the room, rushing to the motionless fragile teenage girl and trying to gather equipment to help save her.
“Nurse, get the defibrillation machine now!"the doctor yelled at the nearest nurse.
The beep became more prominent as the petite nurse ran out of the room returning within seconds with the machine in hands.
“Charging 500!”the nurse called keeping her focus on the machine in front of her."Clear!"
The echo of the shock went through the room but the girl still laid motionless on the bed. The nurse, Jackie had tears in the back of her eyes as she watched people running around trying to save the life of the girl that stole everybody's hearts the second they laid their eyes on her.
“Charging 600!”the nurse yelled with a panic look on her face."Clear!"
“There is still no pulse doctor!"said Jackie emotionally.
“Again!!"the doctor yelled stubbornly at the nurses that seem to have given up."Come on kid…"he muttered softly under his breath as he attached the machine to her chest a final time.
"Clear!"
The shock echoed through the hospital room once again but this time followed with a stable heartbeat.
The doctor let out an audible breath of relief as he watched the girl's chest moving slowly up and down. Nurse Jackie scurried out of the room with tears falling down her cheeks both of relief and sadness.
Ever thought of how you would die?
The thing is I always knew it will all come down to this, but what I always seem to think about will always be what will be the last thought in your mind be, before you enter the light?
Will it be my favorite pop song? Movie? Family? Friends? Or the boy with the grey eyes that stole my heart without even trying?

"Charlie?" said a voice at my bedroom door followed with a light nock. "Are you awake?"
A light chuckle escaped my lips at the words of my older brother. He's always late in the mornings but ask the same question everyday anyway.
"Yes Dec i'm up!" I said meeting my brothers eyes in the mirror and giving him a soft smile."Just tying my hair, I'll be right down."
He looks at me and smile, shaking his head in amusement. He slowly walked backwards until he stopped at the stairs."Breakfast will be done in a sec come down when your done!"
I took a few minutes to make sure nothing's out of place and walked down stairs and into the kitchen.
“Declan? What are you doing?" he spinned around with guilt plastered on his face trying to hide the mess behind his back .
"Nothing!"he said way to fast cringling when he realized his mistake."Okay so I was trying something new for breakfast because you know it's the most important meal of the day but it just went... wrong."he said with a frown plasteredon his face.
"Dec calm down."I said with a small soft smile on my face."It's the thought that counts. Just go and change and I will clean up."
"But the doctor said to eat healthy meal and making sure you drink your pills! Wait did you drink your pills?" he asked, his eyes widening slightly at his thoughts.
"Yes. Now will you please go and change?"I asked chuckling at his behavior.
He rolls his eyes struggling to keep the smile on his face but still walked out of the kitchen, muttering about trying again tomorrow. I cleaned the mess on the counter and 10 minutes later Declan came down looking fresh.
"Let's go!"he said whistling the all to familiar tune my mother use to sing when she was still alive. We get into his car and started driving to school in comfortable silence.
"Today after school, I might not be able to get you."he said glancing my way.
"Why?" I asked frowning.
"I took some extra shifts at the workshop to save for..."
"Dec please stop. You have to focus on college. Don't let this ruin your life." I asked with tears in my eyes.
We pulled up to school and he killed the car and turned to me with a sad smile.
"You know since our sorry excuse of a father walked away your the only family I have left. I can't lose you too i'm sorry. So even if I have to work my butt of to get you that surgery I will."he said with a serious expression on his face.
Far back I can hear the first bell of the day, signaling school's about to start.
Tears are running freely down my cheeks as I watched my brother. He took my cheek in his hands softly wiped the tears from my face.
"Don't worry, okay? Things will be fine."he said with a sad smile.
I gave him a tight hug and slowly pulled away.
"I love you okay? Now get out of my car we're late."
I softly chuckle at him and slowly opened the car door."I love you too!" I called and stepped out of the car. I took a deep breath and wiped my cheeks one last time and made my way to the front of school. Great…now I have to talk to the creep of a security guard.
Old man Earl.
He is an old, wrinkly man that smells a lot like bad cheese. He never has a smile on his face, probably because of the few missing teeth, matching his yellow stains that always seems to be on his tucked in shirt.
I only ever had to come in contact with him once and it was just to give him a note. Honestly it was one of the scariest moments in my life.
He looked at me with a sneer on is face like he smelt something awful…Yeah buddy, hate to break it too you, but I think it's time for a bath, because that smell isn't coming from me. I thought as I tried to hold my breath.
“You're five minutes late missy." he said gruffly bending a little to see me clearly. His greasy long gray hair fell in his face as he continue to study me. A shiver of disgust ran down my spine as the old man's sticky breath hit my nose. He opened his mouth probably talking about my punishment but I was too distracted too listen to a word he said.
His teeth was so far apart from each other.
"How do you even eat?"I asked out loud without thinking. Once my words registered in my head, my hands moved to my mouth and I stared wide eyed at him in shock.
“Detention!"he yelled at the top of his lungs when the other students around me, which I failed to notes until now, started laughing.
My cheeks turned a rosy red as I grabbed the pink slip from his hands, almost sprinting down the hall and ducking around the corner.
My heart was beating a thousand beats per second and my face turning all kinds of red with embarrassment and from the running. I pushed my back against the white wall and slide down to the floor trying to calm my frantic beating heart. My chest painted but slowly faded away
Gosh this is so embarrassing… my friends will never let this go. I covered my face with my hands in hopes that it would take away the heat and the embarrassed feelings. Sadly it was not the case and it only seem to have gotten worse.
My thoughts where interrupted when the bell went of indicating that first period was over and we have about five minutes to get to our next class.
I stood up and dusted my old pair of baggy jeans and made my way to my locker. Opening the blue piece of metal and reaching for my Biology, a voice from behind screeched causing me to slam my head against the locker. Ouch! That really hurt.
“Oh gosh Mattie are you okay?"Samantha my best friend asked.
I slowly nodded my head when the pain subsided a little. Wow today just keeps getting better, doesn’t it? I sarcastically to myself.
“Good now, where the hell were you this morning? Do you know how worried I was? I was about to call your brother! And I was considering to call the police!" she screeched in my ears attracting a lot of attention from the students around us.
At her questions my mood dampened a little more and a frown took over my face. Should I tell her? About the conversation with my brother or Old man Earl. She would never let it go! I bet that what happend will be all over the school before lunch anyway. She lifted one of her perfectly shaped eyebrows and stared at me expectantly.
With a loud sight I shut my locker and pulled her with me to our next class, quickly as possible telling her about my interesting morning. By the end of the story Sam dabbled over with laughter. Her blond hair falling all over the place as she tried to calm down. The keyword being tried.
Finally when she stopped laughing and we sat down in our usual seats, the bell ringed signaling the start of second period.
“I can't wait tell Brandon about it.” Sam muttered under her breath and flipping out her phone.Probably telling Brandon, her twin brother, everything.
It's weird how much alike they are. Their blond hair and sharp jawline that can't missed . It's scary how they finish each other's sentences, but I have a feeling that they do it on purpose because they know how much it freaks me out.
Our old teacher, Mr. Mendez, walked in slowly with a small grin on his face. He's probably thinking about the amount of homework we're going to get. Mr. Mendez is one of those teachers that likes to see how his students squirm.
“Okay class, open your textbooks at page 307. We are going to learn….”he droned on and I zoned out for the rest of the class. It went like that for the rest of the day until the bell ringed for lunch.
I walked down the hall and into the cafeteria, spotting my friends at the end of one of the tables near the windows. Brandon and Samantha both started laughing when they saw me approaching. I gave them the best stink eye I could master and plopped down next to Sam.
“So you got your first detention?" Brandon said wiggling his eyebrows.
“Shut up.” I muttered stealing one of his fries and throwing it in my mouth.
“Hey! Go buy your own!” he screeched holding his fries protectively.
Sam and I laughed at his behavior and continuing our lunch peacefully and teasingly.Time flew by and before I knew it was the end of the day. Dread filled every inch of my body as realization hits me. I'm going to be late for work.
“Detention... Great, just great! Maggie is going to kill me!"I muttered under my breath as I slowly made my way to room 52, the detention room.
I stood in front of the big brown door and let out a sigh , trying to build some courage … "It can't be that bad..."I mumbled to myself.
I let out a deep breath and slowly open the door, pausing to observe my new and unknown surroundings, when my eyes was met with a beautiful shade of grey.
