Lorenzo’s POV
“I didn't mean to call you that. It's just that, you wouldn't listen to me.” She spoke in a sing-song voice, her breath hitched as her lips trembled.
The way she had called my name was soft yet it was filled with frustration from her futile attempts to get me to believe her.
Her voice had made something dark coil inside of me.
It wasn’t anger, instead it was something far more dangerous.
Closing the gap that separated us with just two strides, I reached out her arm but she flinched as she stumbled back.
“You keep calling my name like we’re equals,” I mumbled, my fingers lifted to her chin and tilting her face up to mine.
“I swear, I didn't intend to do that." She cried. “You wouldn't believe me no matter how much I tried to convince you."
