“And then she disappeared?”
“No, it was a day or two later. She was supposed to be home when I got off work, but she wasn’t at the apartment. I never saw her again.”
“Can you tell us anything more about the lawyer who came to see her?
“I know his name. Luis Baldemar.”
“Well, that’s familiar…” The head housekeeper nods and crosses her arms. “He’s a shyster that handles immigrant cases. We’ve seen him around here a bit. He’s usually trying to drum up business…you know, offering to get the families into the U.S. or dealing with green card issues. I’m betting the cops have a pretty fat file on him. You should ask them.”
