Goodnight

{Adelynn’s POV} He chuckled deeply, the sound catching me off guard. I couldn’t help but enjoy the way he laughed.. the way he spoke. He was so kind.. handsome.. not to mention tall.. so very tall. My brothers were all over 6’0, but he had to be close to 7’0.. maybe 6’10.. “People should learn not to follow others around like lost dogs.. the only strays I saw at that party was them. Don’t pay any attention to anything that comes out of their mouths, they’re not worth the time or energy!” He said, setting the towel down and pulling on his glasses. I nodded, smiling softly up at him. “I’ll remember that.. thank you.” I chuckled, thinking over what he just said.. I could get used to being around him. I looked around noticing that Theo was gone. “Where’d Theo go?” I asked, scanning around the room. Liam shrugged, and Sebastian smirked. “Hopefully to teach those girls a lesson.” He said, a tone like venom in his voice. I shook my head. “You guys don’t need to fight my battles for me.” I said, looking up to him. “I can handle it myself!” “Yeah, we saw, you handled that well.” Miles chuckled. I shots him a glare. “To be fair, I was quickly surrounded by four women who pushed me into a pool.” I sighed, shifting uncomfortably in my chair. “What else could you have done?” Miles asked, looking back over me. “You’re in a chair Addie, you can’t even feel your legs!” He snapped. I sighed looking down over myself, I knew he was right.. but I also know that I can handle pain.. I can handle the torment.. I’ve always done it on my own. I looked back up at him snapping. “I’ve always handle this stuff on my own before! This isn’t even first attempt on my life this year!” The words left my mouth before I had a chance to stop them. Saying it out loud like that.. talking about how James really tried to ki** me.. something in me broke. My eyes going wide, my body tensing, I looked down into the fire, trying to calm myself, or at least distract myself. “I know.. she tried to ki** you in the hospital.” Miles said softly, placing his hand on the back of my chair. I kept my eyes on the fire, my body tense, my eyes staying wide open. I nodded, trying to show that I was in agreement.. but it must’ve looked robotic as they all looked at me. “Addie.. did you.. did you mean someone else?” Liam’s voice grew closer as he sat down next to the fireplace, right in front of me, he turned my chair slightly to face him. “Look at me Addie.” He said. My eyes drug across the fire to his face, tears beginning to prick in them. “I-I’m tired.. and cold.. could we go home?” I asked, before dropping my eyes to my hands, which I was now wringing. Anxiety taking over the last bit of my mind that I had left after the stressful events of today. “Answer me first.” Liam said, his voice more cold than usual. “I-I..” my voice came out broken, and choked up, as tears began to spill down my cheeks. I closed my eyes and shook my head, sinking my face into my hands. Miles’ voice broke through the silence that now filled the room. “Liam.. drop it for now.. she doesn’t want to talk about it.” He snapped, I looked over to him, his face was stern as he glared at Liam. He knew.. I don’t know how.. or who told him.. but he knows. He walked up behind me, grabbing my chair and pushing me towards the door. He leaned down, whispering in my ear. “It’s okay Addie, I’ve got you.” His tone was soft, and comforting, luckily he had me this way, otherwise I don’t know what I’d do. “Thank you Killian, we’ll have to have you over for lunch sometime, to properly thank you.” Miles said, smiling over his shoulder to Killian. I could see Killian’s reflection in the glass door, and I could feel his eyes on me. “Anytime Miles, just give me a date, and I’ll be there.” He smiled. “Thank you Killian..” I said softly, smiling towards the glass door. “Anytime Adelynn.” He smiled back, his smile was the last thing I saw as we disappeared out the door, and down the driveway making it back to our car. I could see police cars around ours, the girls who attacked me were all in handcuffs and being dragged out to the cars. My parents stood in the gateway watching the scene unfold, and when they saw me they ran over, both of them engulfing me in a warm hug. “Oh that goodness you’re safe Adelynn!” My mother whimpered, pulling back slightly and kissing my cheek. My father pulled away looking down at me. “Your brother came barging in with the police and had the girls cuffed while he went into the house and got the security tapes. All four girls were arrested, including Lola!” He said, placing his hand on the side of my face. “Are you alright?” He asked, his eyes frantically searching me. I nodded, trying my best to smile up at them. “I’m okay, really I’m alright. Thanks to my brothers, and Killian.” I said. “Killian? He’s the one who saved you?” My mother asked, looking taken aback. I nodded, smiling softly up at her. “He dove into the pool, and got me out, even packed me to his house and let me warm up by the fire. Brought me a change of clothes, and had my brothers help me get my other leg braces and get dressed. He was, very kind to me.” I said, taking her hand in mine. “I’m okay, really, I’m fine now.” “Good..” she smiled back. “We’ll invite him over.. and discuss a reward for helping you.” She said, patting my hands. “For now, let’s get you home.” Soon we were all loaded up into the car as we made the drive back to the house. Once inside mom helped me get washed up, and into some comfy pajamas, she washed Killian’s clothes and brought them back to my room, lying them on the bedside table as I laid down, getting ready for bed. “Goodnight mama..” I smiled softly. “Goodnight Addie.” She smiled, stepping out the door and closing it behind her. I reached over carefully grabbing Killian’s shirt off the nightstand, and quickly pulling it on over my head. I laid down and soon began to drift off into a deep, peaceful sleep.
