Chapter eleven. The arrival. Minthie point of view. We have walked for the last two days in a row stopping to rest only when necessary. We had to get there as soon as possible so we could rescue Nadia before something very bad happened. Bleddyn had a plan to go in and get my sister out of the building and go as quickly as possible to find what my father had left me. This part of the forest was denser than the others and it took us more work to get there than we thought. We had been walking for a long time when Bleddyn abruptly stopped. I saw him sniff the "Concentrated" air trying to guess what was around us. "We are very close I can smell them in the air." He says while lowering my backpack from his back which he was carrying. I see him hesitate a bit before looking at me. "I want you to trust me." Bleddyn takes my face in his hands and gently kisses my lips. A strange sensation runs through my body when his face contracts as if in pain. Bleddyn pulls away from me for a moment. I feel like he's looking deep into me when his beautiful eyes gaze into mine before he does something I never thought he would be capable of. I feel like my body is lifted and my feet no longer touch the ground. Before I can process what is happening my body is leaning on his shoulder and Bleddyn makes his way to where Cruor is. "What are you doing? Bleddyn put me down." "This is the best Minthie. For everyone." His voice is strangled with a feeling I can't decipher. I seemed to notice some tension in his voice. Perhaps he was worried that he had brought me here, endangering me. "What are you talking about? Bleddyn this is not funny." His grip intensifies when I try to get off. I feel my legs being held harder so that I can't move. It was weird to be able to say it but from that day we reconciled I could feel Bleddyn closer to me. In a way that hadn't happened before, his scent was strangely stronger and attracted me to him. And I think that was what kept me calmer in this situation. I could feel his body tense under my body. As his steps were heavy against the ground, even those around us seemed to feel it too. The once lively and rowdy environment of the animals that lived in it had ceased. Life that seemed to now flee from the presence of the skilled predator that walked among them. "Bleddyn!" I made one last attempt to get his attention, but to no avail. He stops responding and walks faster out of the forest. Like he's avoiding sharing more of his time with me. A few minutes later we began to cross a kind of ruins, apparently it was some town that was consumed by nature. The ruins were made up of stone bases and the occasional wall still standing and eroded by the rain. I start to get desperate when I see him head quickly to an abandoned construction building. The building is so old that it seems that nature took account of the place. The grass grew tall for what previously seemed to be a pretty garden. Dust and dirt covered the concrete, broken windows. And there was even an overturned truck on the ground that was now turned into scrap metal. It was a landscape straight out of an old apocalyptic movie, the kind that you never thought would happen. I see shadows moving around the windows as I jerk to the right and manage to see over the side of Bleddyn's body as they move anxiously inside. My little inspection was interrupted when a heavy blow collided with us. Bleddyn circled my body in a threadbare way, absorbing most of the blow and the hard fall against the asphalt. It all happened too fast. When I reacted I was on him. We had slipped a couple of meters. I tried to re-join, but Bleddyn pushed me aside and stood in front of me as comfortable as ever. I stood up with difficulty when I saw that in front of us was one of the shadows that we had seen for the last time. It was the shadow with the red glow and horns. My eyes widened as the shadow slowly turned human. His body was adorned with a beautiful lilac dress. She was a beautiful woman. As beautiful as the other two. If I remembered correctly her name was Carnifex. Her skin glowed a golden hue when the sun touched her. Unlike the others, her skin was kissed by the sun, it was a chocolate hue. Her hair was tied in a beautiful intricate hairstyle with little gold trim. "What do you think you're doing?" I heard her speak. Her voice was melodious and danced in the air like a sonata that calls for you to come closer. "I came to fulfil my end of the bargain." Bleddyn's voice snapped me out of my mind. My head snapped back to where Bleddyn was standing. I was scared many thoughts came to my mind when his voice asking me to trust him echoed in my mind. "Well done Bleddyn, it was worth the wait." Carnifex said looking proudly at Bleddyn. "It's an honour to finally meet you, Minthie. Your sister told us a lot about you." Two other scarlet-eyed beings appeared from the building behind me and Bleddyn. I looked over at Bleddyn for answers only to see him walk over to her and stand beside her. Bleddyn stared back at me, only it was cold and emotionless. I felt something push off my left arm, my head snapped in that direction only to see one of the evolved ones next to me. I gasped, I was terrified. The other being arrived and took me by my right arm and they began to push me towards the largest building. They took me through several corridors to one that had a metal door without any opening. I felt lost and desolate. They opened the door and threw me inside, I dragged myself down the wall when my body hit it. There was a bed next to me, which was more of a bunk full of dust and mold. The four of them entered the small room and filled the place. They made me feel small and imprisoned. I didn't want to be seen dejected or scared but it was too late. Looking into Bleddyn's cold eyes made me collide with reality. "What's up Minthie?" I could hear the mockery in Carniflex's voice. The voice that had previously seemed melodious to me was now a screeching sound full of hatred. "I think he still doesn't understand what's going on." She suggested another one of the beings. Carnifex took a step closer. "Did you think he really appreciated you?" She said this time in a mocking tone. "She did her job better than I expected." She approached me, feigning compassion. "Yeah, yeah, shh, don't cry. It's not personal. We're not made for affection." I heard the low laughter of the other beings. I raised my visor and I quickly regretted when I met those intense eyes, he maintained a very sinister half smile. "Humans and their ridiculous feelings." She muttered as they left the room. The other two followed closely behind. Bleddyn gave me one last look before closing the door behind him. Leaving me alone in that place. At some point I will have fallen asleep since I woke up on the floor full of dirt. I thought it had all been a bad dream but looking around I realized that it had happened. Bleddyn had put me in the wolf's mouth. Anguish spread through my chest, making room to stay there permanently. Bleddyn had betrayed me, his goal was always to bring me here. And I had fallen like a delusion. Worst of all, I still hoped that he would help me in some way. But I think the worst of all is that I still missed him. I had gotten used to having his presence by my side all the time. My thoughts burst as the door was opened and one of the beings who had brought me in earlier came through. "Comfortable?" He asked mockingly. A snort came out of my mouth. I rolled my eyes as my gaze drifted and focused on the wall on my side. The evolved took momentum and came to me. A small scream left my throat in surprise. She grabbed my jaw tightly and smiled when she saw my scared face. I clenched my teeth, I hated myself for making a fool of myself. This whole situation overwhelmed me. "Cruor wants to see you." I found myself j*********f the ground to be pushed through the door. I tripped over my feet off balance and fell to my knee in front of the last person I wanted to see at the moment. Bleddyn snorted in laughter and helped me up. My eyes filled with hope when I saw him standing in front of me and I hated myself at the time for feeling that way. "Bleddyn" Her name escaped my lips. Bleddyn lifted his jaw flirtatiously and a half smile curved his lips. "He seems to like you." The evolved said. "Somehow I had to earn his trust Altair." Now he knew her name. Quite a pretentious name. Altair smirked and reached over to roughly grab my arm. I watched as Bleddyn clenched his jaw. The two of them led me through cobwebbed corridors until we came to a tall metal door. Voices were heard that were muffled by the thick walls. Bleddyn stepped forward and opened the doors wide. The people inside suddenly stopped talking and focused on us. I could feel his eyes sinking daggers into my body as his hate-filled gazes locked on me. Cruor was sitting at the head of a wooden table in the middle of the room. A mixture of relief and surprise invaded my body when I saw my sister sitting on the left side of Cruor. Her cold, lifeless gaze met mine and I stupidly tried to move towards her only to be stopped by a push from Altair. "Please. Don't force us to be tougher, collaborate." Altair spoke behind me. Cruor got up from her seat and walked over to me. Her steps as if she were dancing. Slow and sensual. "Get out." Her voice echoed through the room, causing chairs to slide and those inside to almost run out. The five of us stayed in the room in awkward silence until the last person emerged. "Nice to see you again Minthie." "I cannot say the same." My answer brought a smile to Cruor's mouth. It took me by surprise when her body rushed forward and grabbed my neck violently. My body was lifted off the ground and I began to kick as the air began to lack in my lungs. My body hit the ground when Cruor released me and my hand went to my neck trying to ease the pain caused. I looked at them with hatred. I was breathing hard, I looked at Bleddyn and my sister and I could only see how their faces showed nothing. It didn't affect them that they hurt me. "Leave me alone with her. We have a lot to talk about."
