Cain looked at Bryan again, hoping that he finally decided to propose himself, but he remained impassive because a kind of premonition told him that it was better not to put his nose out of the bathyscaphe. Cain started fumbling on the dashboard to disguise his disappointment, he couldn't force him to leave and then he started finding a way to convince him.
"I'll go," Neil Patterson offered after a moment, surprising everyone. No one had stepped forward and he had absolutely no desire to return to the surface and then start all the procedures again from the beginning. Cain cursed because that was not the way he wanted things to go; he would have preferred to get rid of Bryan immediately so that Neil would be more easily manageable once he was alone.
"Neil, are you sure?" Rupert asked him
