Chapter Five:Maria

I didn’t understand what was going on when the men seemed to go silent around me, but moved about like nothing. No one spoke for a long time—the Beta was off on his own and even as I kept my head down, I could feel his anger and his frustration like a wall of pure Beta Aura. It was suffocating, especially for a Beta. I had felt my Alpha’s aura, it had once become painful once. This was making my heart rate stronger. I didn’t understand how a Beta’s aura could be so strong. “Holt—I need you to calm down,” said the Gamma, Gabe, who had continued to sit beside me. They weren’t touching me and that confused me more. Were they trying to make me relax? It wasn’t working if they were, because I just wanted them to get it over with. “She can feel our Auras and as wolves from the Royal Pack, your Beta Aura is even greater than the Aura of her own Alpha.” My eyes widened and I lifted my head to look towards him, though I quickly looked away when he turned to me. “You don’t have to be submissive like that, Omega—we don’t require it.” They didn’t require submission? My brows drew together and I lift my hand to push my hair behind my ear, but didn’t look up. It had to be a test, because it had happened before with Delta Maddox having said the same thing after the loss of our third pup. It was met with my body hitting the ground from the backhand he gave me. “The Omega is to stay here,” the Beta said and I tensed at knowing that meant soon enough, he would start whatever they wanted. “We have a fourth bedroom, lets put some towels in there for her and get her something to eat—have you eaten, Omega?” A bedroom? For me? I felt completely confused. Did they just not want me tainting their own beds? Maybe that was it, because I didn’t understand. “Omega—I need you to answer me.” I shook my head quickly and he let out a sigh before walking away. “I will get her something to eat, the pack stocked the kitchen for us.” I sprang up and made my way to the kitchen. I couldn’t let them serve me! My Alpha and Luna would truly be embarrassed and the punishment would be—I shivered. I felt arms wrap around my middle and I froze. “Easy, Omega… In this suite, you are our guest tonight—lets get you settled into your bedroom.” I felt that calming feeling coming over me again, which only made my heart begin to panic before he silently cursed and released me, putting his hand on the small of my back to guide me away. When he opened the door to the bedroom, I recognized it as one I had been in before—had cleaned and been bred in and felt my face flush. I shouldn’t have been embarrassed, but I felt shame creep in. Could one call it bred if they could not become with pup? I let my hand reach up to stroke my arm where the hormonal blocker was. “I doubt you are used to this and I’m sorry you have been treated like this… The Silverfang Pack and Kingdom does not stand for this type of treatment,” the Gamma said to me as he walked over to turn on the lamp beside the bed. “The four of us? We are saints by any means—but none of us want to use you—the wolves here are going to be severely punished for the treatment you and the other Omega’s received.” I looked away, confusion licking at my thoughts and probably my expression. But then, the door was shut after he walked away and I was left alone. I lifted my head to look around, to make sure I was truly alone before I went and sat down by the window. I knew better than to try and escape these wolves—this had to be some type of test. They wanted to see if I was going to try and get away. Many wolves loved the thrill of the hunt—and many times I had been the prey. I hated that feeling… “You are going to run, Omega,” Delta Maddox said as he drug me out into the field behind the Delta house. I could hear and smell others, but I was too focused on trying to keep my feet moving. “You are going to shift into your pathetic wolf and you are going to run—and when you are caught, you are going to fight.” I felt my stomach drop as I heard the sound of laughter behind me. “And you are going to scream.” Knocking had me jumping and yelping in surprise as the door opened, pulling me from my thoughts and memories of when I had been chased the first time. My eyes immediately went to the floor as another came in and placed a plate on the bed. “It’s okay, Omega—we aren’t going to let anyone hurt you,” said the other voice—the third voice—the Delta. Typically, the Delta was a Head Warrior and the Delta of the pack was over all the warriors, not matter what their blood status was. If this was a Delta of the Silverfang pack, he would be able to even command the Betas and Alphas here. “I’m Ryan—and I want you to eat some of this.” It didn’t feel like a command, but I felt the aura and that it was much more than a suggestion. They were quiet the rest of the night—not even speaking to each other beyond my walls. And none of them came to check on me. I could have gone out the window—but it was four stories up and I was just an Omega. The Betas of this house would have found me in a heartbeat. So, I did as I was told—I ate the food brought to me and slept curled in the corner, because the idea of sleeping in that bed, knowing the punishment that would follow—it was too terrifying. I didn’t dream that night, my body too strung up and tense to get into actual sleep. But when I felt a hand on my shoulder, I panicked and work, pushing myself into the wall and gripping the blanket around me. “Easy, Omega—I’m sorry,” Gabe said softly as he moved back slightly. “It’s morning, we wanted you to eat breakfast.” I blinked, but didn’t dare look him in the eyes, only nodded. His offered hand was low enough that I could see it even though I didn’t dare look up and I took it because if I didn’t, I knew I could be punished. The others greeted me with the type of greetings that I use to give out myself, but I just nodded and sat down at the counter when Gabe directed me. They didn’t speak, but I flinched when one of them growled—the Beta—but then there was silence. “I’m sorry—I did not mean—you shouldn’t have slept on the floor, Omega.” That was the test?! I felt a shiver move through my body and then a warm hand that had me flinching harder. “What he means is that the bed was for you to use if you wished, Omega—he doesn’t like that you chose discomfort over the warm bed,” Gabe said before placing a plate before me with eggs, bacon, and toast. I felt my mouth water at the sight and was slow as I picked up the fork to eat it. No words were spoken, but I could feel them all watching me. I could not feel the heat of the sun in the room, so it still had to be early and the sun had not risen. “Is Derrick going to be seeing the Alpha and Luna soon?” “He is waiting outside of the office now—he’s been mindlinking me all morning,” the Beta said, not concerned that I was there, obviously. Why would their Alpha be speaking to my Alpha and Luna? I wouldn’t be asking, so I did not understand why I was wondering. I ate more, my thoughts moving from different reasons, though one was myself and I worried that maybe I was to be punished for being here. Was the Alpha angry at me for being with his unit instead of him? But, I could not choose, so certainly he was not angry, right? And last night, they said I was to stay here—so maybe their Alpha wanted me to stay here. I was so lost that when there was a knock at the door, I jumped and snapped my head in the direction. The air was suddenly tense with frustration and I curled around myself before I watched the Gamma head over to the door, opening it and blocking the view of who was there. “Good morning, Gamma—I came to get the Omega, if you are done with her.” Maddox’s voice filtered past him and I looked down at the plate. “She won’t be going anywhere—our Alpha wants us to keep her with us while we visit—you can leave now, Delta,” said Gabe, his voice and tone very much casual and obviously not bothered by the Aura that Maddox was pushing into the whole area. “We have others that wish to have her today, but I can send another Omega to service the four of you,” Maddox said, his voice tense and laced with anger that I knew would be directed at me. I heard and felt the other two moving, their imposing figures joining Gabe. “You heard the Gamma—she is staying right here,” the Beta said before the door slammed shut, leaving Maddox on the other side without access. “Someone is going to need to stay with her if we are called out of the suite.” There was a grumble of agreement from the others before they all sat back down at the counter, Gabe returning to the side with the stove. “Derrick said the Alpha and Luna just arrived.”
