The scent of this she-wolf was everywhere in my suite. She had graced every room while she had been in here today and as I thought about the ‘Why’ to that, it came to my thoughts that maybe she was here cleaning. It had my thought process moving and realizing that my mate was an Omega. That was not an issue with me at all—I held no preference of the blood status of any Wolfen. All Wolves could move their way up in the world, Blood Status was becoming pointless in the world. The mixtures of bloods meant that really, those who were call Omega were mostly wolves who were just more submissive and less wanting to lead and those could even be considered Alpha’s now.
While my sister was an amazing leader, she preferred to be a follower instead of leading. But, she had a well rounded education, which was why her and her mate were now in Europe over seeing my business while I was with my unit searching for my mate. Which I had found—finally. But, I had until morning and I would speak to the Alpha and the Luna at morning. ‘I want her with us tonight,’ said my wolf, who was an impatient beast. I couldn’t help but chuckle and shook my head in amusement.
“In due time, she could be sleeping or—,” I trailed off before I could say ‘working’ and paused in my walking of the suite. No—what if that odd scent was that of another? I took another quick inhale, but it wasn’t Wolfen that I was smelling. No, this was different indeed. I growled—low and dangerously—because I couldn’t place the scent in anything I had smelt before. It wasn’t—natural.
‘Derrick.’ The link from Holt had me pausing in my own thoughts. My Beta and his unit had been at their suite in the Beta House for easily an hour—since the last time I had spoken with them and told them about my mate.
’What is it, Holt?’ I didn’t have the want to speak to him right now unless it was urgent. And his unit would know that he would want to be alone now that he had his mate’s scent around him.
‘One of their Deltas brought us—an Omega—for entertainment purposes,’ the man explained and I felt my whole body bristle in rage. What?! Were this wolves that brazen that they would just bring an Omega to be used by his unit? As if they were all just pure animals running on instinct alone? He shook his head and realized he was actually growling. His Beta explained everything from the moment it happened and he wasn’t anymore happy. ‘She will not speak—Gabe thinks it is due to her conditioning—when he attempted to calm her earlier, it was like she had never felt the touch of a gamma’s aura and then when I asked for her name, he said he felt confusion and fear.’ That was even more concerning.
Most wolves had felt the presence of a Gamma Blooded Wolf. Many Gamma had this special skill of being able to calm others. It was a reason that many became teachers, doctors, nurses, and other roles that the use of that aura could help. Strong Gamma Bloods were as powerful as Alpha and their skill could even put wolves into a trance or help lull them to sleep. If she reacted in fear or in an unexpected way—did they tell Gammas not to use their skills? Or, what is they just didn’t use the aura on Omegas? That was just as worrisome.
‘I am going to seek out the Alpha and the Luna in the morning—keep her there.’ I did not need the wolves of this pack growing suspicious of myself or my Unit. If they sent a female omega to be used then we didn’t need them to think any different. I closed the link and felt my anger and frustration mounting before I lifted my phone from my pocket and called my father.
“Son, I was not expecting to hear from you tonight,” the voice of the man who I looked up to the most spoke over the phone. “How is the Stonepaw Pack?” The man always held a strong authority about him, but for me this was comforting.
“It’s—interesting—I am going to send you an email in a few minutes, regarding something I can’t speak about over the phone,” I said as I looked around the room for a few moments and then moved to look out the window. From my window, I could actually see the Beta house and could see the lights on in the suit that I assumed my Unit was sleeping in.
“What do you mean?” My father’s voice came more clipped this time and I swallowed as I tried to think of the best way to say this.
“I do not know how private my suite is, but there is something I need to speak to you about that should be kept as private as possible,” I explained, earning a grunt from the other side of the phone. Opening my laptop on the bed, I wrote out the quick message since he knew it was coming and I explained what we were seeing. I could hear his growl the moment he read it and set back on the pillows, which caused her scent to almost billow around me. God, it smelt amazing—my mate—even with that odd scent that seemed to lace through it.
My father’s return email was just as quick. ‘I want you to get your mate from there and I am going to mobilize the council in the morning without Stonepaw’s elder and get a task force to come—those Omega’s will need therapy, so I will send our gamma task force as well.’ I read over it twice while I held the phone to my ear.
“I think that is all going to be fine father—though I worry about the elders you speak of,” I said, which was responded by a grunt before I heard typing. A moment later, another email came through my screen.
‘If it is as bad as it seems—that pack will not longer be there—I am going to contact Alexander,’ my father said in his email and I grunted that time. Alexander was one of my best friends, an Alpha Wolf from another pack whose brother was heir to his own pack, but Alexander had such an amazing leadership ability, my father was waiting for this. Alexander and his unit had left the shifter world and joined the military, both currently living in Hawaii on a military base. This pack encompassed two human military based, but the task of being a Alpha of a pack would make it hard to stay in the military. This might be his last contract.
“He will fight that, but he will submit to the Alpha King,” I said out loud as I looked at the computer and rubbed my hand over my face. “I will talk to you soon, father.” I ended the phone call a moment later and then focused on the screen of my computer before looking at the phone on my lap, setting my alarm for bright and early. I would be waiting for the Alpha before breakfast.
