Chapter Three: Maria

1317 Words
“The pups you and I will have are going to be strong, Maria,” Delta Maddox said to me as his hand smoothed over my rounded belly and he smiled down at me. I couldn’t help but be happy. I was going to have a pup in only a few short weeks and it was strong. We did not know if it was a male or female pup, but we didn’t care. Maddox was over the moon—had even moved me into his dorm in the Delta House so he could take care of me. “I have requested a home for us—we should be able to move there together, Maria. And then, we will have more pups—I’ve already requested for you to be my chosen Omega, for you to stay with me, even if I were to get a mate.” That was the biggest honor an Omega could have—my mother had that honor with my father, Beta Karl. Him and his Mate welcomed her into their home and he had her in his bed whenever his mate was gone— “Get up, Omega!” I was startled from my trance by the sound of his voice over me and I flinched, jumping off my cot. “You were meant to meet me outside—I wasn’t supposed to come down here into this disgusting place and drag you out.” I held my head down, trembling—though it didn’t matter when his hand grabbed my arm, squeezing so tightly I couldn’t help but yelp in pain. “I’d have you in my room right now making you suffer while I took my pleasure—except that you are meant for the unit of the visiting Alpha.” He growled as he began to take me up the steps of the Omega house. I was ignored by everyone—no one dared to stop the Delta as he took me from the basement and out into the pack grounds. Once we were out from the Omega House, he released my arm and I walked with me towards the Beta House. I knew they were staying there in the suites. I was as mentally prepared as I could be, though as we moved through the house, I could feel the eyes of all the Betas on me. “Delta Maddox, how long will she be with that Unit?” I heard one of the Beta’s ask, his question causing Maddox to stop. Even though I kept my eyes down, I could see that he lounged on the couch, his mate also using him as her own personal pillow. “As long as they wish, Beta—but once they dismiss her, you and your mate are welcome to her,” Maddox said, a tone of amusement in his voice. If I could, I would have grimace, but I had done that once and found myself at the end of my first real punishment. The Betas both seemed to enjoy that idea before I was walking again, heading towards the stairs and to the top floor. The Suites of the Beta House were once the home of the Beta family, but over time—the Alpha House was where of the Unit of the Alpha lived—four families together and they stayed there until the next Alpha took over. Then, the unit would retire to a neighborhood on the other side of the mountain valley, into a house where they could grow old with their mate. Very rarely did the former Alpha stay within’ the immediate area of the Pack Houses. They were given a small group of Omegas to attend to their homes and needs. I didn’t realize we were at the top floor until the sound of knocking came and I clenched my jaw when the door opened. “Can I help you, Delta?” I didn’t dare look up from the woods planks of the floor. “I am sorry to disturb, Gamma,” he said through slightly tense tones. I knew Maddox didn’t care to show Gamma’s much respect, other than what was civil. He thought Gamma were all beneath him, including the Gamma of the unit. Though, I understood that the Gamma do the Unit held higher rank than even Maddox. “This is an Omega to pleasure you for the evening—she is will trained and will do whatever you tell her without complaint.” I didn’t dare move or flinch. I knew what was expected of me—though the growl that came from inside the suite had a shiver running down my spine. “Excuse me?” Another voice came and as I took a sniff, I could smell the air of Beta. No words were spoken and I could smell something off about Maddox immediately, but felt a gentle hand on my arm before being pulled into the suite. “You can leave now, Delta.” The door slammed and everything went silent. I could hear the sounds of three heartbeats, could smell all male and not a single female. So, it was true, none of the wolves here were mated. “She has an odd scent mixed in with her scent—I can’t place it,” said the voice that I knew as the Gamma—he was behind me and I swallowed as I felt the heat of him. He hadn’t moved though, I could just feel it—and I could also feel a calmness I didn’t understand either, which only heightened my fear. “s**t—I’m sorry, Omega, I was only seeing if I could calm you with my Gamma Aura.” Gamma Aura? I had heard of it, but never had felt anything like it at all. “They must not allow Gamma’s to use their special skill on Omegas here.” He was muttered before I was tugged away from the door and then to the couch. “Sit, Omega,” said the one who had last spoken to Maddox. I just did as I was told and kept my head bowed, my brown hair covering the side of my face. “We need to speak to Derrick—he will want to know about this.” There was a mumble of agreements before I felt the couch dip. I expected them to touch me, to pull me into laps—but none of that happened. “What is your name, Omega?” I felt confusion and terror in my gut, because I wasn’t meant to speak. No, every time I had spoken, I was only told that I was only meant to have sounds of pleasure, screaming or crying—nothing else was acceptable. “Omega?” I felt his annoyance before I felt that strange feeling around me again. “Holt, stop—the moment you asked—she only felt confusion and terror,” the Gamma said as I heard him sit in another area and I could see his feet on the floor at the couch that was adjacent to the one I was sitting on. “She might not be allowed to speak—she could be mute.” Someone was paying attention, but I did not respond or even nod my acknowledgement. “Leave her be and I will mindlink, Derrick. I’ll find out what we are to do with this situation,” the Beta said before he stood and walked away, leaving me alone and even more confused. They did not want me? Were they going to tell my Alpha that I wasn’t enough? Were they going to say I was an insult? I wanted to cry, felt the tears brimming because I knew Alpha Michael and Luna Abigail would only punish me for such things, even if I didn’t do anything.
