The cold night air hit my face the second we stepped outside the hall.
I sucked in a deep breath like I’d been drowning for god knows how long, cus I was
It felt like Freedom except this time, it wasn’t. Because the man holding my hand was the same man who admitted few minutes ago that his pack slaughtered mine.
Alpha Kael Nightbane. My f*****g mate, and also My enemy, how amusing.
As we stepped out of the hall, his black SUV waited at the pavement. Tinted windows, armed guards everywhere, untouchable, everything screaming expensive Just like him.
He opened the door for me.
“Get in.”
It wasn’t loud, not angry, Just controlled.
I didn’t move.
“You think buying me means Obeying you?”
I snapped.
His eyes flipped down to my lips for half a second and then went right back up.
“You’re alive because I bought you,”
he said calmly.
“Don’t test how patient I can be.”
Damn, I hated how steady his voice was.
Like I didn’t shake him at all.
I slid into the car, while he got in beside me and shut the door.
Suddenly it felt very small in there.
His thigh brushed mine, heat shot up my leg so hard that it made me stiffened a bit.
He noticed, Of course he did.
“You can relax,” he murmured.
“I’m not going to touch you.”
The way he said it made my stomach flip.
Damn i***t, such nerve, not going to…
he didn’t even say….i can’t.
The car started moving, not so fast but steadily accelerating.
City lights blurred past the window as we move.
I folded my arms, trying to put space between us. There wasn’t much.
“You killed them,” I said quietly.
He didn’t answer right away.
“My Men did.”
“That’s the same thing.”
There was that awkward Silence.
Then, “You think I ordered it.”
It wasn’t a question.
“Didn’t you?”
His jaw tightened slightly.
“No.”
I turned my head toward him but
he kept staring forward.
“I gave no command to attack Silverclaw territory,”
he continued.
“When I arrived, it was already done.”
My heart pounded.
“That’s bullshit.”
“I don’t lie,”
he said.
I let out a humorless laugh.
“You expect me to believe your pack just randomly slaughtered mine without orders?”
His gaze finally shifted to me. It was dark.
and Intense.
“Silverclaw land holds something,”
he said quietly.
“Something powerful that Someone wanted it.”
A chill ran down my spine immediately.
“What?”
He looked at me for a long second.
“You.”
The word landed heavy between us.
I felt it in my chest. There is nothing powerful about me, why would anyone think that.
“No,” I whispered.
“Yes.”
The car stopped, then the window was wound down.
I looked out the window and saw massive iron gates. It was the Nightbane territory.
The gates opened slowly, Like the mouth of a beast.
The mansion was so enormous. Stone walls, tall windows, and Guards everywhere. This wasn’t a home, It was a fortress.
He stepped out of the car like he owned the entire world, guards scrambling to serve him as if he'd just descended from the heavens.
I, on the other hand, came down slowly, helped by a guard who opened the door for me. He led me inside to a hall, it had Warm light, dark wood, there was this expensive silence.
I suddenly felt very aware of how little I was wearing. My dress clung to my body so uncomfortably tight, My legs were bare, my skin still smelled faintly of wolfsbane and fear.
His eyes dragged over me once, but slow, not disrespectful. But not innocent either.
My breath caught in my throat as he stepped closer, too close.
“You f*****g feel it, right?”
he said quietly.
My pulse jumped like crazy.
“Feel what?”
His fingers lifted gradually, brushing a strand of hair off my shoulder. The touch was so light it was barely there, but my entire body reacted so badly. My n*****s tightened, My breath went shallow,
heat pooled low in my stomach. This f*****g mate bond.
“I hate this,”
I whispered.
“So do I.”
But his voice had roughened. His hand dropped to my waist, not gripping,
Just resting there, Claiming space like he owned me. My wolf pushed forward inside me, so needy and restless.
Mark him.
The thought of it sent shivers down my spine so much that I shoved against his chest, but he didn’t move, not even an inch.
“You don’t get to touch me,”
I said.
His eyes darkened.
“I haven’t even started touching you.”
My stomach flipped the moment he said it.
This time, his thumb pressed lightly against my hip, just enough pressure to make my breath hitch.
“You think I don’t f*****g feel it?”
he continued with a low voice.
“The pull, the heat.”
He leaned down slightly, his lips hovered near my neck, right above my pulse like he wants to bit me, If he bit me there…
The thought alone made my thighs press together.
“I could mark you right now,”
he murmured.
“End this tension.”
My damn needy wolf whimpered.
Yes.
but My human side burned with anger.
“Try it,” I challenged. For a second…
I thought he would bit me, I wondered why I was brought to a damn f*****g hall..
Was it to be claimed?
His fangs slid down slightly from my neck down to my shoulder. His hand tightened at my waist as my back hit the wall behind me. I felt the Heat, the Power, the Danger.
And then…He stepped back.
Right back to being Cold again and Controlled.
“I won’t take from you what isn’t given,” he said.
I blinked, I was so f*****g thrown off.
Before I could respond….A voice echoed from the entrance of the hall.
“Touch her again without a council vote, and you’ll start a war.”
My heart dropped so hard.
We both turned.Standing at the doorway…
was the Silver eyes man. The man from the auction, but this time, he wasn’t alone.
Behind him stood three elders wearing ancient Silverclaw markings.
This is so Impossible.
Kael’s expression hardened.
“You shouldn’t be here, Prince.”
Prince… The word hit me like a thunder storm…what the f**k.
Prince?
The silver-eyed man stepped forward slowly as his gaze locked on mine.
It was Soft this time, not predatory but
Familiar.
“My name is Cassian Silverclaw,” he said calmly. “And I am your betrothed.”
The room immediately tilted to me, I thought I was going to fall.
This is too much for one day.
Betrothed?
“What the hell are you talking about?”
Cassian’s jaw tightened.
“Before your pack was attacked, our families signed a mating treaty to unite the royal lines.”
My stomach twisted violently, I thought it was going to explode.
No.
“No no no!!”
I let the words out finally. Kael suddenly went still beside me, too Dead still, it felt suspicious.
“I bought her fairly,” Kael said coldly. “She’s under my protection.”
Cassian’s lips curved slightly.
“You bought a queen,” he replied.
“Not a slave.”
Queen….The word echoed in my head countless times. My wolf surged forward so violently it almost hurt.
“Queen?”
Cassian’s silver eyes softened as he looked at me.
“Your mother never told you,” he said gently. “Did she?”
“Told me what?”
My chest tightened.
Kael stepped closer to me again.
Possessive, territorial as usual.
“Choose your next words carefully, Prince,” Kael warned.
Cassian didn’t look away from me one bit.
“You are not just the last Silverclaw,”
he said.
“You are the true heir to the Northern Throne.”
Silence swallowed the room like a thick blanket.
My heart pounded so loud I could barely hear. Queen, Betrothed, Mate, Enemy.
What the actual f**k was happening?
And why did both men look ready to burn the world down for me?
I swallowed hard, because suddenly…
This wasn’t about survival anymore. It was about power.
And whoever I chose…Would rule beside me.
