The mansion burned around us.
Smoke filled the hall, thick and choking. Flames licked the edges of the east wing, making everything look fiery. My pulse hammered in my ears, my wolf surged restlessly, growling at the danger, the heat, the unknown. Kael’s grip on my waist tightened, it became solid, and protective.
Cassian stayed close, his silver eyes flicking to every shadow, every movement. He stayed Calm, precise but dangerous.
Then… I saw him, he was standing at the far end of the hall, tall, Silent, deadly, and had eyes like ice.
“You shouldn’t have returned,” the voice said.
Shit. My stomach dropped. That voice… I knew it..it sounded so familiar.
It’s not Kael’s, neither is it Cassian’s.
It was the bastard who had orchestrated the coup, the one I’d thought was dead.
Kael moved first, He stepped in front of me, jaw tight, eyes blazing.
“Stay behind me,” he growled.
Cassian didn’t move, didn’t flinch, he just stared at the figure, unblinking, calculating every move.
“We’ve been waiting for this,” he said softly.
The man stepped forward, smooth, predator-like, Flames reflected in his eyes.
“You’ve grown,” he said.
“But you’re still too weak to claim what’s yours.”
I wanted to scream my lungs out, to lunge at him, to tear him apart, but I was frozen, heart was hammering, My wolf growled, like it was warning us all.
Kael moved swiftly like a machine, blocking, and ready to strike.
“You’re gonna regret that.”
Cassian’s silver eyes never left the intruder, It was calculating and waiting for him to make any wrong move.
The bastard lunged at me, faster than I expected, but Kael caught him mid-step, with his arms like iron. Cassian moved at the same time with a blur of silver energy flashing from his fingers, that made him step back, then… he laughed, the laughter was Low and dark.
“You think your allies can protect you? unfortunately, I didn’t come for them, I came for you…the Queen.”
My blood froze in my veins…Queen, that f*****g word. My wolf erupted inside me, so fiercely, snarling. I could feel the rage, the power, that survival instinct….it all collided.
Cassian’s presence pressed in front of me. I was caught between them both…and the intruder wasn’t waiting, he moved again, faster, sharper.
“Move!” Kael roared.
“Now!” Cassian’s voice cut through the chaos.
The room shook, the fire roared, Smoke blinded us but Kael and Cassian pulled me between them, blocking, shielding. My heart hammered.
The intruder's smile vanished, and for a split second, his eyes went wide.
My wolf growled, and my mind snapped into focus…I wasn't just human, I was a Queen, an Alpha, a predator.
“I’m not hiding anymore,” I whispered. “And I’m not afraid.”
Kael’s eyes softened slightly, just for a moment. Cassian’s silver gaze stayed locked on the intruder.
The bastard hesitated... that one second was all I needed.
But then… a second figure appeared behind him, Taller, Bigger and was masked, I couldn’t see the face, but I could feel the power, the authority, the threat. My stomach dropped again. The fight wasn’t over, Not even close.
And in that moment, I realized… I wasn’t just fighting for my crown. I wasn’t just fighting for my life, I was fighting for them. For Kael, for Cassian, For the Queen I was becoming.
And some f*****g i***t out there… someone I never expected… wanted me dead before I could claim it all.
The fire crackled, smoke stung my eyes, and my wolf snarled…rage and power were coursing through me like wildfire.
And then…
The masked figure spoke.
“You should have stayed dead.”
My pulse stopped, and I knew, with a certainty that made my blood run ice and fire at the same time…that it was only the beginning.
