She didn’t see what the big deal was in saying yes to Tyler. Sure, he appeared to be older but that was not an issue with her. Now if she was in her twenties and he was pushing 80, maybe but right now as she saw it, no. He was good looking. When he first walked into the station she noticed him right away because of his eyes. He had those penetrating blue eyes that could see right into your soul. He kept his salt and pepper hair cut short and neatly trimmed along with his beard and mustache.
Sure he had a couple extra pounds on him but Libby didn’t care. He wasn’t what she would consider obese or at an unhealthy weight. He just had a few extra pounds on him but his 6 foot plus broad shoulder frame carried it so well. His proportions were just right and suited him well.
Tyler would smile at Libby every time he walked through the doors. It made her feel like she was doing a good job if people came in and left with a smile on their face. She didn’t think she ever saw him when he didn’t have a smile on his face.
Her phone buzzing in her pocket shook her out of her thoughts.

Libby waited on a reply for what seemed like forever. She hoped that she hadn’t overstepped or acted too pushy, even if it was just a flirty little comment.

guess so. Got to get back to work. Chat later
send me ur address baby and I will see you about 5:30
Libby typed out her address and stuffed her phone back in her back pocket. She went back out front and seen that Diana still had everything under control. For the rest of the shift, she did busy work until Anna showed up to relieve her.
“Alright guys, I am out of here for the night. I will see you on Monday. If you need anything, call or text.”
“Be careful and stay in public places.”
“Diana, stop. I will be fine. Don’t you worry about me.” Libby walked out and over to her Jeep Wrangler that was sitting in the back of the lot. That was her pride and joy. It was the one of the few things in life that she splurged on. She had wanted one ever since she was little playing with her pink Barbie jeep. After she graduated college she decided to get herself a graduation gift in the form of a Wrangler. Her ex hated it but she absolutely loved it. Especially this time of year when she could take the top off and just let enjoy the weather.
She pulled into her apartment complex about twenty minutes later and headed inside. She glanced at the clock and saw she had time to grab a shower and get cleaned up before she needed to start dinner. She was grateful for that. She did not want to be a sweaty mess on her date, even though she was sure that Tyler would understand.
She turned on some music and hopped in the shower. She paid some extra attention to her legs and figured she would do some “landscaping” while she was at it. Libby didn’t know what the night was going to bring but wanted to be presentable just in case.
She emerged from the shower 20 minutes later smelling like cherry blossoms and wrapped her hair in a towel. She applied some light foundation, eyeliner and lip gloss just to give herself a fresher look. Libby was not one who normally went all out on makeup or how she looked. She did not walk around looking like a total disaster but did not feel spending hours applying makeup to the point a person did not even look like themselves was worth it. It was a waste of time in her opinion. If someone did not like the way she looked, she didn’t care. She was confident enough in her appearance that she did not feel the need.
Libby brushed and blow dried her wavy chocolate brown hair letting if fall around her shoulders. She preferred her hair down, as it framed her green eyed face nicely, but she almost always pulled it back in a ponytail when she was at work. It made things a lot easier for her to work if she was not constantly brushing the hair out of her face.
Back in her bedroom she found a matching bra and panty set and put it on followed by a pair of jeans and a simple t-shirt. She wanted to keep things casual and if she needed to change later, she could. She definitely did not want to overdress.
At five she was in the kitchen starting dinner. She bounced between the kitchen and the rest of the apartment, making sure that it wasn’t a mess and looked presentable. Her home wasn’t flashy or expensive but it suited her perfectly. She didn’t need all the bells and frills in her life. Materialistic was not a word that was used to describe her at all. She was far from it. She bought things that were practical and made sense. She wasn’t going to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on a television when she barely watched TV. She wasn’t going to spend four hundred dollars on a purse that got tossed around. She didn’t knock anyone who did those kinds of things, it was just not her style.
Five thirty on the nose, the buzzer sounded in her apartment. She ran over and buzzed Tyler into the building, her nerves starting to show. She had been so calm all day but now that he was mere feet from her front door, her heart started racing. She took a deep breath and opened the door, waiting for him to climb the stairs.
