Chapter Four

ADRIAN The building they were in was right in front of me. I went in, with clenched fists, my heart almost exploding with anger. They were not expecting me, else they'd stage a guard. The first human ate the first heavy punch. I removed the head from the next, and tossed his body on the wall. Just then, her citrus scent filled my nostrils. Moli had crossed my path from the first few days I came here, most likely he's a rogue, we have never had a conversation, but I'm intrigued now about who he is. I was pissed, both at myself for going to rescue her, even when I tried not to, and her coming to distract my peace. This wasn't getting interesting. I hated that I had myself tangled in all these, the same thing I am running away from, responsibility. I was restless, turning on the bed from left to right, another of the few nights I spent alone, on this damn bed. The first light of the day beamed in from a tiny slit, a space that was not entirely covered by the window curtain. I heard continuous opening and closing, sometimes, slammed sounds. It came from the kitchen. I leaned on the kitchen's door frame. This b***h is not going to make me run mad. Her tiny shape was beautiful, but I was pissed to be disturbed from my sleep, moreover, having her in my space. “Those could be done without all this noise.” My voice startled her. She turned to face me, her face flushed and scared. “I'm sorry, I. . .” Her widened eyes were hovering over my face, her mouth was agape. She froze at where she stood, a common expression I get all the time. Lisa behaved like this until about early this year. “What do you want?” I rolled my eyes over her, giving her a scowl, not leaving my leaned position. “Meds, Aspirin.” Her voice shook. “What for? Wolves take medicines?” I never heard of it. Lycans don't, I don't. She showed me her fingers, they were swollen. “It hurts. And I have a headache too.” My scowl turned into a frown. I held the hand in mine, I felt sparks jumping from the place of contact, her palms were smooth and soft, like a baby's. “Who did this?” My voice was as calm as I could hold it, but deep inside, my instincts of protection wants to rip someone's heart. “Mmo mol.” Her voice shook, her hands were shaking in mine. I felt the sparks that emanated from her, where I held. I felt them too. “Moli?” My eyes widened. She nodded. I left her hands back to her control. I could heal her, but anytime I used my powers, it decreased the control I had over the lycan. ‘Gosh’ I said to myself. “I stretched the hand again, I held the fingers in my other hand, closed my eyes and focused my energy. I dropped it, and left immediately. She opened the door, after I knocked the second time. She was dressed in a short that revealed her thigh. I noticed her n****e hardened underneath the tee shirt that was a little tight on her. I took my eyes off them immediately, “Lisa will either come with a housekeeper, or the housekeeper will come alone. Don't leave the house, no matter what.” My hands were in my pockets, I turned and left the room, she'd be a total waste of time, and I needed time away from her, so I kept her out of my mind. I don't like her. I need an explanation why I feel the need to protect her. It's upsetting. I kept punching the steering wheel, while I floored the gas pedal. The number of commuters on the street had increased, and the decorations had took over the city. Christmas trees here and there. I was here for their last Christmas. It wasn't a f*****g wolf I feel responsible for. “So sorry ma'am.” I helped the old lady repack her bag, I didn't notice she was coming. My shoulder only brushed hers slightly, and she fell, and scattered the grocery bag. “You're so strong” the old lady retorted, bending to help me pack the bags. I noticed three men sitting on a round table and looking in my direction. My heart pounded hard, No, it shouldn't be here. I would shift into a lycan if they attacked. I could sense my lycan trying to take over, he became stronger for my control after I healed Bibianca. I turned, and walked behind the lady. When I looked over my shoulder for them, they were not there. I gave a bird's view round the mall, they weren't there. My breaths increased. If they attack here, I'll definitely turn, and that will make me run back to pack life, I can't go back there. I hurried to the car, and regained my breaths. When I carried my head from the tilted position, opened my eyes to turn on the ignition, there they were. Right in front of the car. “What do you want?” I asked them calmly when I came out of the car. There were only a few people in the parking lot, but still I had to be calm. The one in the middle came forth. “I am Zar, leader of the wolf hunters guild.” He introduced the rest, and took another step towards me. “The wolf in your custody.” “Okay?” I folded my arms, across my body, and raised a brow. I remember his voice from the phone. “Now, I understand your involvement with our government, so we won't hurt you, but we need that woman. Hand her in peace.” My rage was drawing close, he dared to challenge me. I have more reasons to protect her, for the challenge. I went inside the car, not answering them. I zoomed off, when I looked from the rear mirror, they were just standing there. Thoughts of her crawled into my head again. Who is she? Why is she being chased by all these forces? First the soldiers, Moli, now the hunters. There must be a plot, I'll find out. Lisa was dressed in poorly covered attire, her cleavage slitted through a sharp line, almost tearing her string-handed dress from the mid-top. “Welcome sir.” She waited till I entered, then she closed the door. I stood there, a scowl on my face. “What the hell, Lisa?” My eyes shifted between her left and right breast, and her face. “Sir, it's holiday, and you need a housekeeper.” She bit her lower lip, stood in front of me, acting unaware of what she was doing. I scoffed, “Where's Bibianca?” I started moving towards her room. “She left, dropped a note.” I stopped. Lisa is heartless, she could do anything for me, even if it meant hurting someone. I knew what this was about, but I never gave her a chance. I grabbed her neck, and squeezed it. “You'll regret it, if you have a hand in this.” I went for the note. “No, sir. I wouldn't…” She was still talking when I slammed the front door out of the house. She doesn't want to be a burden, or policed around? Only if she knew the many wild mouths open to devour her. I just hope she's still alive.
