Terrie refused to leave Adam’s hotel room for three hours after the automated voice stopped talking. “...sometimes, family doesn’t mean everything.” Those words were ingrained in her brain, bouncing around like a ball that was forever in motion. Something meant to forever torment her. She supposed that was the case. That had to be the reason it was said, as a measure of torture. Yet, even with that knowledge, her body heat never returned. She just felt cold at the realization that maybe the voice was right about her. Despite Adam’s silent show of support, she remembered how he reacted to what the voice said about him.
