When Jace said he wanted to be on the road by the crack of dawn he meant it in the literal sense. This meant getting up around 4 am to be on the road by 5 am. Normally this would annoy me but not this time, I knew what this place meant for him and now that our parents are gone its significance was even greater. Saying goodbye to it meant seeing one last sunrise.
There was a slight chill in the air but not an unbearable one so we drove with the windows partially down.
