After I had awakened from the most restful sleep I had, I noticed Tyler wasn't there beside me. I got up from the couch to go look for him. "Tyler.." I called out. "Hey, I'm in the kitchen." Tyler replied. As I made my way into the kitchen, I found Tyler making us lunch. I went and sat on the granite countertop next to where he was cooking, taking in the smell of the most delicious food I've ever smelled. he was making a simple grilled cheese sandwich, but with his own twist on it, there was ham, diced onions,diced green peppers. mmmmm, it smelled so good that my stomach started to rumble. "Hey there sleeping beauty. Did you have a good nap?" Tyler asked while staring at the food he was preparing. "It was the most restful sleep I've had in a while." I said while having the biggest grin on my face. "I'd like to think I had something to do with that." Tyler said in a cocky and playful manner. I laughed and cover my face in my hands so he would see my face turning red. "OH Yes you....." Before I could finish.
(Tyler's phone ringing on the counter)
I looked down at his phone, the name SSGT Bowman popped up on the screen. Tyler reached for the phone to answer it, putting the phone on speaker while he cooked. "Hello." Tyler answered. "Good morning Mr. Hunt this is SSGT Bowman giving you a call on your updated status." SSTG Bowman replied. "Yes sir what's the update?" Tyler asked "Well I wanted to inform you that the August 1st group had a last minute drop out and have one seat open. It's your if you want it." SSGT Bowman said "Yes....Yes sir of course I want it sir." Tyler answered faster than I could process what was going on. "Alright, sounds good Mr. Hunt, we leave at 0900 see you there. "SSGT Bowman explained. "Yes sir, looking forward to it, I'll see you there goodbye." Tyler said hanging up.
I just felt like my head just did a full 360, what was going on. I felt like this could be the start of something, but now, come to find out he's leaving at the end of the summer. I suddenly felt my heart sank a little. "Um, so, you're leaving?" I asked, trying not to choke up on my words. "Yep, I enlisted to the marines as soon as I turned eighteen. " Tyler said proudly. "But... what about us? I thought we kind of started something here, and now you're leaving." I said as tears swelled in my eyes. Tyler turned to me, seeing the hurt inside my eyes he put his hands on either side of my face and kissed my forehead. "Hey, listen to me, I really care about you, I always have, ever since the first time I saw you sitting by the river drawing in your book." Tyler said. So, my suspension was confirmed. It was me in the drawing he had on his wall, and my heart felt heavy. "Nina, things with us are not gonna end here. We have the whole summer, and I'll only be gone to boot camp for three months, so it's not that bad." Tyler said, trying to comfort me. "But after boot camp, don't they ship you out right away?" I asked teary-eyed."Not always, sometimes we have a week or two at home before that happens." I couldn't believe how sad and hurt I was getting after just a very short time with Tyler, but I was drawn to him and I didn't want to lose him, not yet, not ever. "You promise that this isn't goodbye or just a summer fling?" I asked. At that comment, Tyler couldn't help but chuckle and embrace me with him arms. "No, my goddess, this is definitely not goodbye, nor will it ever be, I've always had you on mind none stop, and now that I have you, I don't want to let you go." Tyler beamed.
Those words meant so much to me, I know I was falling for him so fast, but I couldn't help it, "Is it because of the dramatic experience with Chad and April." I wondered.... No it has nothing to do with them, I really feel like I could give my whole heart to Tyler but I was still on guard because I didn't want to get hurt again. After we finished our lunch, I decided to head home and face the music with my parents. On the way home I kept playing out scenarios in my head of how the conversation would go with my parents and neither of them had a good out come. "Damn what did I get myself into" I said to myself aloud. approaching my house my heart started to beat uncontrollably in my chest and I started to breathe heavy. I paced back and forth infront of my house trying to calm down. "Nina chill everything is fine, they spoke to Tyler last night your all good." I said to myself. Oh SH*T Tyler, I wonder if they would notice if anything happened, even though we didn't have s*x, I still didn't want them to know what happened between us. As I gathered my composer I climbed up the front porch steps and placed my hand on the door knob. letting out a deep breathe " Here I go." I said as I walked through the front door.
