31- “One Step Closer”.

Against the part of me that wishes to stay longer, Aiden and I found ourselves leaving crumbling house, the girl’s tear-filled gaze lingered in my mind, and it took everything in me to not decide to stay here and screw the selection entirely. I mean, after all, it is not like I want to stay there—it is only a matter of how soon I will be kicked out. So, why not do the honor and leave sooner? No one would care about me if I leave anyways. If I stay here, I might be able to help some of them here—I do not have much, but I can try. There is always a way out. But, I knew I could not do that.
If I want to truly help them, then perhaps by returning to the palace, I would have a better chance at doing so. Not to mention, Aiden knows of them as well, someth
