26- “The First Task”.

I will not lie—the thought of being a charity case to The Crown Prince made my heart ache, even though it really should not be so. I know I mean nothing to him, and I am quite possibly someone he is just using and tolerating for whatever reasons are best known to him. However, it does not keep my hear from aching at the thought, but I pushed past it.
Even if I am a charity case to him, I am grateful for it—because if not for it, then perhaps I would still be stuck in my old pack, or worse, suffering from an unspeakable fate. So, being a charity case brought me to the palace at the very least—it is not something to hate entirely really.
So, I kept my head up, and my shoulders squared, turning a deaf ear to the ladies that continued to speak about me
