3- “Betrayed, and Humiliated”.
Aurora Black.
The sun rays coming in through the slightly awoke me. A slight hum escaped my lips, having awoken from what could possibly be the best sleeps I have ever had in quite possibly my phone life. Out of this newfound instinct, I stretched my hand out, seeking the presence of my mate but instead I was met with a cold bed.
My brows drew in as I sat up, looking around the room only to realize the absence of his clothing, leaving only mine, while I still remained very much naked under the sheets. An ache throbbed in my heart, but I pushed against it, realizing the time on the digital clock on the bed.
I am late for my chores! Despite my newfound connection with Alpha Killian, I knew better than to take it for granted, especially not with his absence. A part of me had a sense of dread on what his absence could possibly mean, but I pushed it away, convincing myself that I am just being paranoid.
Getting out of the bed, a slight wince escaped my lips as a sharp pain ran through me from down there, reminding me of what happened, as if the blood on the sheets is not a stark reminder already. I hastily put on my clothes again, then changed the sheets of the room before someone could see it, unsure of where exactly I stand with Alpha Killian.
With the now empty sheets in my arms, I quietly slipped out of the room, hoping to avoid anyone seeing me. Even if someone did, I would just claim I went there to tidy up the room. Luckily for me, there was no one in sight throughout my way down the hallway. As I had reached down the stairs and was about to take the turn that would take me to the laundry, voices caught my attention, and against my rational thoughts, I made my way to the grand hall where almost everyone seems to be.
I could only stand by the entrance as everyone else had filled the space, but from there I could still see those on the podium. Our Alpha and his wife, Killian’s parents stood there, as the Alpha spoke. I only caught the end of his statement.
“…the Prince is here to pick out capable she wolves to participate in the Princess selection at the Kingdom of Atlantis. I would like you all to welcome him, Prince Aiden King!”
The crowd parted as he made an appearance from the door on the other end, and I could swear the entire room could feel his powerful aura as it overtook the air in the room. Everyone quietened down, the strength of aura which he oozes silently commanding everyone to pay attention to him, and no one else.
It was also a dark aura sort of. I cannot pinpoint why I have that feeling I just do.
Even I, my heart raced as I watched him walk in, his steps calm, collected and commanding. He walked with grace, but power at the same time. I could only see the side of his face, and that of the two men that followed behind him, stopping by the podium while he walked up on it, the Alpha and Luna shifting as they gave space for the Prince.
And then he turned around to face the crowd, and I never thought there would come a day where I would deem a man so strikingly handsome, he seemed to be overtaken the word handsome as a whole. His expression was sharp, and as cold as his electric blue eyes.
My stomach quivered as I stared at him, and my heart rate spiked up as he parted his lips to speak.
When the words escaped his lips, they were firm, strong, and commanding. “Just as they said, I will pick out two capable she wolves to participate in the ceremony and compete against the other she-wolves.” The entire place was pin drop silent as everyone listened to him speak. “Whether you win or not, and whether you get picked here or not depends on your capabilities. I would make my decision by tomorrow night. That is all.” He did not say much, but those words alone were enough to send all the eligible she wolves in a frenzy.
I have never seen them this excited and interested in anyone before.
And amidst their noises of so, the Alpha cleared his voice, gaining everyone’s attention. “Before we call it a day, my son, Killian also has an announcement to make.”
At the mention of my mate’s name, my lips slanted into a warm smile, as my heart rate spiked up, my gaze leading me to where Killian made his appearance as well. Making his way to the podium as well, he stood at the center, facing the crowd, then he spoke.
Was it just me, or is there some sort of animosity between the Prince and Killian? Neither of the two spoke to the other, though Killian bowed his head slightly, as expected of him but it did not seem rather willingly.
The Prince ignored him, not shifting from his position.
Killian had to take a step beside him, by his left to be able to gain some of the attention.
“I would like to announce to you all that I have found my mate as well,” If I thought my heart was beating wildly before, I do not know what it is now. I held my breath in anticipation, happiness swelling in me at the thought of my life about to be changed, and how he would declare our fated connection.
He then looked around the crowd, and I thought he was looking for me. When his gaze landed in my direction, he smiled, making my smile widen.
“I would like you all to meet my mate,” He gestured in my direction, and happiness swell in my chest. However, that quickly depreciated when his next words came. “Savannah Waters.”
The moment the name escaped his lips, someone walked past me, as the crowd made way for her as well, her blonde hair flashing right before my gaze as she sashayed her way to where he is.
The moment she got on the podium, he leaned down and kissed her deeply in front of everyone, then turned around to face the crowd. My gaze immediately zoned to the fresh mark sitting on her neck, and somewhere in between the cheering crowd and his words, I could hear my heart breaking into tiny, irrecoverable pieces.
“My Luna to be!”
