5- “Rewriting Destiny”.
Aurora Black.
Everything is exactly the same. Every act, every movement, every word from everyone…it is the same and I do not know how to take it. To say I was confused would be an understatement.
Was everything a dream?
No. It felt too vivid for it to be so. It cannot be a dream when everything is exactly as I remembered it to be, and believe me I remember every single thing weirdly enough. The only thing perhaps out of place, is…me.
My surprised self when taking in everything.
“The Prince will be coming to NightWind to seek his mate, and the Alpha’s son will be returning as well.”
The exact same announcement, the same I heard everyone in the pack muttering as Delta Derek directed me, and the other omegas out of our cells and onto the pack lands. Till that point, I was too stupefied, unable to make a single move out of what happened before, for I was still unable to find a way to wrap my head around this.
If everything is exactly the same, and if by some sort of miracle I am reliving what happened and I am not exactly imagining stuff, then any minute now, the moment we reach the pack house, my gaze would meet Killian’s, and realization would set in on me.
An overwhelming scent filled the air, capturing my attention.
I made the mistake of looking up, and looking around, trying to locate the source of the scent. My line of sight followed the source of the scent, and when my gaze fell on it, my lips parted as his gaze met mine as well.
The Alpha’s son held my gaze, and though I have no wolf and could not hear a thing that others do in that moment, I understood what it meant judging from the look on his face.
Mate…the Alpha’s son, Killian, is my mate.
Almost immediately, the sounds in the background muffled, and I felt as though I was submerged into a river, so I could hear no sound but that of my pounding heart. Everyone’s voices disappeared, and his gaze holding mine was all I could focus on.
I felt as though I was in an extremely cold water…a wakeup call of some sort. Realization hit me like a truck.
Fuck. It is exactly as I thought. I am not imagining stuff, it truly is exactly as I had lived this before.
And perhaps, all my shock and questions simply remained as so as there was nothing to trigger me in a way to snap some sense into me. Until I met his gaze, and every single thing I went through since that eye hold came crashing in my mind, reminding me of all I had endured, and how my life pathetically ended.
I found myself taking in a sharp breath, feeling as though I had emerged from under the water, and I could finally breathe again, clearly this time, the noises in the background returning.
Delta Derek blocked my sight with a glare that spoke volumes on how I dared to look the Alpha’s son in the eyes. But, unlike the last time, newfound confidence surged in my veins, and as such, I did not look away. Instead, I held his gaze, already aware of what the outcome would be.
His brows drew in, surprise for a flick moment flickering across his face, no doubt as to how I had dared to hold his gaze. And like expected, all I got was my neck deep down in chores, just like the last time. No change there as well.
Only, as I did the chores, I could not help but think everything through then. Everything is indeed the same, but despite me unable to realize how the f**k this is all possible, I will not be stupid enough to make the same mistake as the last time.
No, the last time I was stupid and naïve enough, so much that I ended up dead…or alive with a second chance.
I will not lose this second chance again helplessly, not if I can change it. Why? Because I have the upper hand now, and I will use it to make them pay for all that I had endure in their arms because of it.
I will pay them back, and this time, I would make it out alive. I will rewrite that goddamn destiny…my way.
If I am not mistaken, the next thing to happen will be meeting Killian in the hallway. But, I have about thirty minutes to forty before then, and so I used the time to formulate a plan on how to handle him.
By the time it came, I already had on.
I was making my way down the empty halls with unwashed laundry in my hand when a hand suddenly wrapped around my shoulder, and in the blink of an eye, I had my back planted on the wall behind me.
My breath was knocked out as my eyes dilated from the sudden action, a slight squeal escaping my lips as I feigned the reaction, wanting to uphold that fragile and weak wolf persona. A hand covered my mouth before the sound could escape, and a familiar, yet strange pair of orbs met my gaze.
“Shh,” Killian’s voice came, his scent overwhelming me—it made me feel nauseous.
I forced myself to visibly relaxed at the sight of him, making him release his hand from my mouth. I blinked, somehow managing to find my voice, “What are you…” I managed to make it sound weak, and helpless…just like I did back then.
My words were caught midway when he suddenly leaned forward, burying his nose in the crook of my neck as he inhaled my scent, dare I say greedily, a sound emitting from him somehow bordering between a growl and a moan. “I want you,” He breathed out, his lips trailing kisses down my neck.
My hands released the clothes I was holding, now resting them on his shoulders as I gripped his clothes. I rolled my eyes, knowing he cannot see me, feeling disgusted by his hands on my body, but not pulling him away.
Pushing past the hatred in me that makes me want to keep him at arm length, preferably smack him away, I parted my lips and forced the words out. “But…” My hands gripped his shirt tightly, gritting my teeth out at the feeling of him being this close. It takes everything in me to not kick him. “…is this right?”
“You are my mate,” He breathed out, his hand slowly going underneath my shirt, making its way up to grab my bosom harshly, and at this point, I am seconds away from smacking the man if not that it will ruin my plans. Then, he pulled back, and whispered against my lips, “Of course it is right.”
I hummed, and just as he dived in for a kiss, I moved my face away, unable to tolerate it to that extent. But before he could take my dismissal for another sign, I slowly took steps to the side, pulling him with me to the nearest door, just like the last time.
He followed me willingly, and the moment the door was closed behind us, he nuzzled his nose in my neck again, and I held the back of his neck, forcing him to take the scent greedily. My eyes narrowed as my expression turned cold, feeling his breathing even out as his body slumped, and in a couple of seconds, he had dropped to the floor, a messy heap of now unconscious body.
I settled my gold gaze on his, watching his passed out body on the floor, then reached out to wipe away that which I had sprinkled on my neck. As I brought my hand to my face, I stared at the oil that coated my skin.
Melted wolfs bane, enough to knock even an Alpha out from inhaling it too much.
My lips slanted upwards into a small smirk as I stared at him.
Welcome to the version of my story, asshole.
