Life without Callie

1099 Words
Xandros POV It's been five years since Callie was announced dead and my twin Xyla hasn't stopped accusing me of what I did. She knew it was wrong but at the same time it was all for the greater good. While resting on that ottoman, Thalia approached me and sat close to me. She rested her head on my chest, I wondered why she was here. “What's wrong Thalia? Do you want my assistance with anything?” “I'm here to spend time with you, it's been a while I rested my head on your chest to listen to your heartbeat.” “My heart is fine.” I pushed her head off my chest, immediately she tried to push her hand down my crotch. “You think I don't know that?...” She snaps, staring intently into my eyes, more like she was searching through them. “What do you want, Thalia?” “There's a lot that you don't know about me, Xandros, I'm only trying to be honest with you so we can get this to the next level. We have to watch our marriage go, it's half a decade and we don't know what we are. We're just circling around like a circus.” Thalia complained bitterly, keeping her hands crossed. “Next level indeed, I hate it when people think they have it all at their palms when the truth is this…” Xyla paused in her words as she sat in between Thalia and me, holding a bowl of popcorn in her hand. “Would you let my brother and I watch our favorite show? You're disturbing…” She added, chuckling softly. Thalia knew that she was serious with her words and trying to force Xyla to change her position would end in a brawl and I can't let her touch my twin sister as well as I can let Xyla touch Thalia. “No one's throwing hands tonight. Thalia, if you don't want to watch the show with us, you can go upstairs. I'll join you later.” I had to be calm and calculated in order to choose my words perfectly. She hissed, storming her way through the stairs. It only amused Xyla and I. I kept my cool until I heard the door to our room slamming shut. “Thalia doesn't know how much I hate her.” Xyla shows how much she hates Thalia and even adds actions to it . The enmity between both parties is intense. “She's still my mate, remember.” I retorted instantly, hoping she would just end this and accept the bond. “You know I hate you for what you did Xandros. Callie was your mate, she loved you with everything in her but you ended up letting your guard down for that loose b***h upstairs.” “Watch your words Xyla.” I cautioned almost immediately, letting her know that her words could land her in a whole new kind of trouble if she keeps at it. As much as she hates Thalia, they can always have their squabbles but she can't ridicule her in my presence, it's disrespectful and she knows how much I hate to be disrespected. “Fine, suit yourself Xandros. I'll never stop hating you for ditching Callie and causing her death. It's all you and no one else.” “Your dress is very short…” I changed the topic, Xyla always talks about her like she means the whole world when she's just nothing but a mere personality like every other lady out there in the pack. “What does my dress have to do with what we're talking about? I see what you're trying to do, changing the topic won't change how I feel about my dear elder brother. You're responsible for her death and I would keep reminding you.” She spat on the floor, expressing her disgust for my decision years ago. Xyla revealed to me how deep she can be malicious. She's been doing this for five years, she's not tired of it and she's not stopping anytime soon. I don't hate Xyla, she's my twin after all. So I'll endure her excesses until she returns to her senses. Reflecting on how close Callie and I were, to be honest I missed her but she's dead. That chapter of my life has been closed so there's no reason to try to remember the dead. Sadly Callie was only temporary, now that she's gone there's nothing other than Xyla’s tantrums and Thalia's troubles, I have to deal with this for the rest of my life. It's tiring, time consuming and at the same time irrelevant. “What's bothering my son?” He crossed his arms around me, I was startled by his presence. “Dad you never stop startling me with your presence” I conveyed my thoughts, I can't tell him what my thoughts are channeled to. “If I don't do that to you, there's no one that reacts to it. Your sister sees me before I even get close to her, and Thalia on the other hand is a complicated being so I don't speak to her much.” My dad was correct about Xyla's ability to see someone before the person even gets close to her. I remembered when we used to play hide and seek when we're little, she always had the upper hand with her abilities. “She's your favorite child, what do you expect?” I didn't stop telling him about his words when we're little. “Xandros, your sister is my favorite child. Don't treat her just like a sister, treat her right, take care of her, she's all you've got aside me.” These words were ringing in my head. “You always say it like it's a sin. She's my favorite. You're right about that but you're also my child and I love you all. So quit thinking and come with me, let's go to the bar and have a drink.” “Alright Dad.” I needed a drink to unwind my thoughts blowing up in my head. I picked up my jacket and followed him, he tossed the keys to me. “Don't expect me to drive you son, so you drive.” He chuckled as he opened the passenger’s seat and settled inside while I held the keys in my hand. “Before we leave, let me ask you a question Xandros, What do you think is making your sister not to accept your bond with Thalia?”
